Alienware gaming machines always have the fastest GPUs and CPUs, but it seems like the integrated speakers for the audio system leave a lot to be desired. They lack good volume that you want to get immersed in your game. Well, now a new version of the Alienware M17x is heading to stores this month. It will start at $1,499 and have an optional full HD 17-inch 3D screen. It will also have Klipsch speakers for better sound.

The machine is the first team up between Klipsch and Alienware and it’s also the first 3D gaming notebook from Alienware. There will be more notebooks with Klipsch sound systems coming soon.

Twin GPUs in a single laptop isn’t new. Alienware’s M17x has been offered in that way since last year, but until now having this machine with a pair of ATI’s Mobility Radeon HD 5870s has been impossible. The earliest buyers are now reporting that their dual 1GB HD 5870-equipped M17x machines are finally arriving at their doorstep.

Alienware has just announced a new version of their M17x notebook dubbed the Nebula Red, due to it being shockingly red. Aside from the snazzy name and the over abundance of redness, this new version adds a few new features.

This one sports an anodized red aluminum case, a backlit keyboard that lights up with what else-red tinting. You can change the light color for something different.

Dubbed the “all-powerful” gaming laptop, Alienware just may be onto something here. It features a pair of 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs, a Core 2 Extreme quad-core CPU at the top end with up to 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory, and 1TB of 7200-rpm disk or a 512GB SSD.

RAID 1 or RAID 0. You’ll also get a nine-cell battery, FireWire, 4x USB, eSATA, ExpressCard, 802.11n WiFi, 8-in-1 media card reader, dual-layer Blu-ray, a 1920 x 1200 pixel edge-to-edge LCD, DisplayPort and HDMI-outs all in a package that weighs 11.68-pounds.
