Montegiro’s Legno luxury wooden turntableIsn’t it ironic that some of the most beautiful turntables have shown up long after the days of vinyl? If only we had had such beauty back in the days of records. Germany based company, Montegiro, has a new high-end audio system in the form of the new Legno turntable.

It uses bamboo as well as high-grade steel to produce beautiful music from your old vinyl collection. The company decided to use a bamboo chassis because of the wood’s stabilizing and resonance-damping properties. There are also four adjustable and high-grade steel feet with rubber O-rings. The Montegiro’s Legno luxury wooden turntable is now available for a mind-blowing $13,240.

Amazing Angelis Labor Gabriel luxury turntable

Amazing Angelis Labor Gabriel luxury turntableThe “Gabriel” turntable from Angelis Labor resembles a starship construction yard more than a fancy record player. Four separate arms will ride the grooves of your vinyl treasures on a platter that is suspended on a magnetically levitated spindle. Mmmm. Shiny and nice. Four arms are better then one, I guess.

If you actually had a robot willing to play your old records, this is pretty much what it would look like. The price is just as mind-blowing of course “between $27k-$64k”. I know that some of you will disagree, but is the sound that you are going to get from vinyl ever worth that much money?

All black iPhone 3G debutsDiamond jewellers De Vere’s of London have unveiled the all black Apple iPhone 3G. The ‘Midnight’ iPhone 3G features a deep black bezel surrounding the front screen to match the rear case. The Midnight iPhone is exclusive to De Vere’s for £799 (USD$1199) or as a bezel fitted to an existing iPhone for £299 (USD$449).

The black Midnight iPhone was originally created by De Vere’s to show off the effect of diamonds set into its luxury De Vere Diamond iPhones. Then they realized how good the all black iPhone looked without the diamonds.

Samsung Ego GT-S9402 Luxury handsetSamsung has a brand new luxury cellphone in the Samsung Ego GT-S9402. The body of this handset is made of a “liquidmetal” composite alloy developed by Caltech, which is said to be three times stronger and can withstand 1.8 times the pressure, 1.6 time more flexible then, with three times better vibration absorption, and 100% lower termal conductivity then titanium. That’s quite a claim.

The Ego GT-S9402 is a DuoS phone that works with 2 SIM cards. Some other features include 2 inch 262K color QVGA AMOLED display, 5MP camera (with autofocus, image stabilization, smile detection, WDR and LED flash), an FM Radio with RDS, 1 GB of built-in memory, microSDHC memory card slot (up to 8 GB), Bluetooth 2.0 and USB, and 960 mAh battery.

Mercedes-Benz Formula Zero luxury racer

Mercedes-Benz Formula Zero luxury racerThis is how Mercedes-Benz sees the future of racing. Formula Zero racing combines elements from land yachting, the luge, and Formula One of course, but it also incorporates environmental responsibility. Each team has a certain amount of energy to complete the race, and points are awarded based on elapsed time and energy efficiency.

It’s all very futuristic since it’s to take place in the future. The race will even be run on a glass track allowing the audience to watch the race from below. How’s that for a view? Will it ever happen? Maybe one day. Or maybe we’ll just see certain elements. But probably not for many years to come.

Emirates Airline announces in-flight showers
The newest addition to in-flight luxuries are in-flight showers. Obviously, it’s great for the businessman on the go. You could arrive at your destination squeaky clean. Emirates airline has just announced their ‘shower spas’ facility for first-class passengers(Of course) in their new superjumbo A380 Airbus.

Yes, the plane really carries enough water for all 14 First Class passengers to have five-minute showers, so don’t worry they won’t be recycling anything nasty. Each shower has been designed to accommodate just one person at a time, but I’m sure the mile-high club just got an upgrade. Other premium services include 14 flat-bed, massage-equipped ‘Private Suites’, each of which include remote controlled doors, work desk, electrically controlled mini-bar and an entertainment system. Nice!

Souped Up John: The ultimate geek throne
The Souped Up John is the ultimate in geek bathroom luxury. The designer certainly wasn’t constipated when it came to throwing ideas into this john, but was certainly counting on your constipation to keep you in place long enough to use all of the various gadgetry.

It sports a television, TiVo, DVD, XBox, laptop, fridge and of course the toilet paper holder comes standard. Plus an iPod docking station. You also get some exercise pedals in front for when you really need to shake those bowels loose. The megaphone is there so others can cater to any needs not already provided for.

The Sync luxury integrated PC desk

The Sync luxury integrated PC desk
Now building a computer into a desk is a great idea, the problem is that you don’t always want to use your computer when you use the desk. That’s why Gareth Battensby’s Sync concept is a good one. The massive flip-up LCD sells me on the idea. The illuminated keyboard doesn’t hurt either.

The main thing is that Gareth has made sure you can actually use Sync as a desk when you want to. It was designed as a final year project for his degree, so sadly, Sync is unlikely to see the light of day. Very sad indeed, because aside from the practicality, it’s also a lovely piece of furniture.

Nokia 8800 arte Platinum Snow Fox editon

Nokia 8800 arte Platinum Snow Fox editon
Nokia’s 8800 arte Platinum Snow Fox Edition from Goldstriker is one sleek and sexy phone. It’s not for those who lead an average lifestyle. Just like it’s not for those who are a little light in the checkbook. The phone is enhanced with 40 individually set AAA grade ultra white synthetic diamonds. It will be released on May 1st of this year for £1095.

It impressed Goldstriker’s director Katherine Hughes enough to comment “I have been lucky over the last few years to be involved and witness so many different customizations of mobile phones but this handset seems to stand out from the rest. It is for sure the most stunning to date”. I’m not much for AAA grade ultra white synthetic diamonds myself, but like I said it is sexy and certainly makes a statement.
