Like any geek that was young in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s I was a huge Star Wars fan. Over the years, the newer films in the franchise and most of the games based on Star Wars left me unsatisfied. At points, it feels like George is whoring out our childhood icons.

The one video game that I have played in the Star Wars universe that I really liked was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. LucasArts and BioWare have announced that they are developing a new MMO game based in the same time span as Knights that will put players in the shoes of different Star Wars characters.

The MMO game Star Wars Galaxies is a popular game, though it has seen far from World of Warcraft levels of popularity. LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment are gearing up to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Star Wars Galaxies by launching a new companion product.

In August a Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game will be launched and unlike other trading card games where you can buy packs of cards at retail outlets, the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game will only be available to gamers with paid subscriptions to Star Wars Galaxies.
