The PS3 really does do everything. It just got Hulu Plus in the US recently, and now the console has just started streaming movies action in the UK, with Lovefilm. If you are in the UK, it is free. You just have to have a £5.99 or above monthly Lovefilm subscription.

Just be aware that there’s a limit on how much streaming you can do at that price point. Those restrictions go away on the £9.99 top tier, letting you enjoy as many movies as you want.

The earlier leak came directly from Sony itself, so this isn’t a suprise, but Eurogamer has confirmed that British film streaming service Lovefilm will indeed be coming to the PlayStation 3. If you have never heard of them, it is basically the UK answer to Netflix.

The partnership will allow people to buy pay-per-view movies or, if they’re on Lovefilm’s £5.99 subscription or above, let them stream content. In this case on the PS3.

Many Americans may not know what Lovefilm is and may have never heard of it, but for those living in the UK, it’s basically their Netflix. So UKers are probably very happy about a video that has since been pulled from Sony’s YouTube channel.

Basically Lovefilm streaming will be coming to UK-based PS3 owners sometime this autumn, with a bunch of search options available and free trials offered to those who’ve yet to try it out. We’ll likely hear more from Sony soon, but for now keep your fingers crossed.
