Apple not happy with new Woolworths logo

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on October 5th, 2009

Apple not happy with new Woolworths logoAttorneys for Apple have initiated a legal response against the largest supermarket chain in Australia. At issue is a logo that Apple says is too similar to its own trademark. You can judge for yourself, but I think Apple is way out of line on this one.

It all began when Woolworth’s Supermarkets announced in August 2008 that it would refresh its corporate branding strategy with a new logo. The Australian company hasn’t mentioned apples at all in relation to the new logo. They claim that the stylized ‘W’ has been paired with “an abstract leaf symbol” to represent fresh food. But it didn’t take long for others to note its similarity to an actual apple.

MacBook modder puts a second screen in the Apple logo

Posted in MacBook by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2009

This is a pretty cool and original MacBook mod. Macmods member EdsJunk has put a full-function color LCD inside the Apple logo and hooked it up as a secondary display. There aren’t many details, so we don’t know exactly how he did it, what kind of screen was used or what it cost him.

We do know that it is awesome. He has put it up on ebay where it is currently at $2,025.00 with 8 days to go. So you still have some time to get some money together. Where the final price will be is anybody’s guess.

Magic 8 Ball USB drive

Magic 8 Ball USB driveSometimes it’s really hard to make a decision. Sometimes you need a scapegoat, so you can blame someone else for something that you know is a bad idea. Traditionally, that’s where the magic 8-ball has always come in handy. It has now been combined with this cool little USB flash drive from The USB Group.

This way, you’ll always have storage and an easy answer at your fingertips. It’s a fully logo brandable drive with a cute magic 8 ball suspended in liquid. Should I delete my porn? “Ask again later” Will my co-workers find my High School Musical tracks? “My sources say no”.

The Apple…from Apple

The Apple…from AppleApples new endeavor that is sure to win Greenpeace’s heart? Just some people attaching decals to the fruit before they ripen. Could have something to do with some new Mac/Supermarket cult I suppose.

iPod nano 4G leaked, no logo

iPod nano 4G leaked, no logoLooks like real honest to God iPod Nano 4G hardware, but you’ll notice it has no Apple logo and it probably is equipped with non-Apple software inside. Call Anakin Skywalker and the rest of the Jedi council. Begun, the clone wars have. Those who don’t visit gadget sites are doomed to buy this thing. You’ll also notice that this clone is thin as an anorexic supermodel, which has us hoping that the Nano 4G will keep its slim form.

iSpank Apple logo spanking paddle

iSpank Apple logo spanking paddleWhat can you say about a paddle that will inflict not only pain but brand others with Apple’s logo? We aren’t all born with the mark ya know. This device is great for so many reasons. If you’re an Apple hater, you can run around Zorro style and give those iPhone users the what for with a good smack. If you love Apple, you may want to brand even your girlfriend with the famous logo for some reason, though you will surely pay dearly.

It’s also a great way to incorporate your love of gadgetry into some of your questionable bedroom activities. Hey, I’m not judging. Of course, it’s created from a ping pong paddle and a stencil. Hell have your own Mac/Apple cult, wearing black robes. Smack! “Thank you sir, may I have another?”

iPhone mod makes Apple logo glow

iPhone mod makes Apple logo glow
The short video clip below starts off like it might be some kind of creepy videodrome clip featuring that one chick from Sex and the City, but it’s not and it’s not that chick. Before you know it, shows off a modded iPhone with a glowing apple logo that can serve as a nice bright flashlight.

That’s because some Russians have replaced the Apple logo on the back of an original iPhone with a glowing version. There isn’t much detail, but apparently they swapped out the aluminum logo for a glowing one. Apparently, custom software allows the user to select the brightness of the effect independently of the screen brightness.

Firefox logo spotted in space

Firefox logo spotted in space
Here’s an interesting image captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. It’s an image of the variable star V838 Monocerotis which lies near the edge of our Milky Way Galaxy. Yes, it looks like the Firefox logo. The red area also resembles HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssesy.

I picture the starship Enterprise investigating and ultimately finding that this area of space is some higher beings hard drive. “I find this highly illogical Captain. Sensors are also picking up signs of Windows Vista, which indicates that the entire region is unstable and could implode at any time.”
