Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on December 28th, 2008

LG to unveil slimmest LED LCD at CES 2009LG is the latest manufacturer to stretch the limits of LCD TVs. LG will unveil the “LH95,” the world’s slimmest LED LCD TV at CES in January in Las Vegas. The LG LH95 is expected to be only 24.8mm thick, which should be good enough to back the manufacturer’s claim. The LH95 will feature a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio screen and come with 240Hz TrueMotion Drive technology.

According to LG, this LED LCD TV will be the 2009 CES Innovation Award winner in the Display category. I’m not sure how much thinner they can go, but this one is pretty darn skinny. Hopefully it lives up to all of the companies boasting.

LG announces new 14.1-inch LCD for outdoor/indoor useThe one problem with working on a laptop outdoors is that the screen does not adapt to the natural light, which takes the portable out of the whole portability thing. Well, LG has rolled out a new 14.1″ LCD monitor for use both indoors and in outdoor environments, bringing adaptive backlight displays to a new level.

LG’s latest offering will give you optimum screen visibility under virtually any condition, since you can switch from Transmissive mode to Reflective on-the-fly. LG claims that the innovative display will also help prolong your notebooks’ battery life, although that remains to be seen.

LG planning a Formula One phoneLG loves to collaborate with other brands. Looks like the newest brand will be that of Formula motorsports. They want some of that racing action so they can get back into that whole “Life Is Good” thing they killed. It’s as if the company is having a mid-life crisis and just wants to go really fast, like vroom.

It looks like they will be rolling out a Formula One handset sometime next year. The news comes on the heels of a new sponsorship deal with F1 earlier this morning, where LG’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dermot Boden, said that the Korean consumer electronics company is “looking to develop products in the future with Formula One.”

The XPION R20 features a 2 Core Quad Q8200 processor, with 3GB of RAM and a GeForce 9500GS graphics card. You’ll also get a new cooling system based on Multi Direction Platform Cooling (MDPC), which means it will be pretty quiet. Life is no longer good for LG

Life is no longer good for LGThe economy going in the crapper is enough to turn any smile into a frown. That’s just as true with LG as it is with the average person. In order to demonstrate that they are down in the dumps and that they feel your pain, LG’s director of marketing plans on downplaying the company’s “Life’s Good” slogan. Because life is no longer good for many people at the moment. So instead of pretending everything is awesome, the company’s new ads will focus on what their products can do to make life easier. Yep, LG is a real downer.

Alltel LG RhythmMusic phones and smartphones are two of the biggest categories of handsets today. Music fans can get one device that lets them make and receive phone calls while listening to music. Without a phone that can play music, users end up needing to carry a MP3 player and a mobile phone. Finding a place to stuff an extra gadget can be a big problem for some users.

The LG Rhythm is an interesting phone that features a built-in FM transmitter that can send music playing on the phone to a FM radio up to ten feet away. That means in your car you can listen to music from the phone on your car audio system without resorting to accessories. The handset has an integrated 3.5mm headphone jack and can change between music and phone calls automatically.
