Lenovo’s LePad gets torn apart

Posted in Lenovo by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2011

Lenovo’s LePad finally showed up in China back in March. Nothing in the states, though we may see it eventually under a new name. And since we can’t have the tablet on our shores, here is the next best thing. An autopsy that splays it’s parts every which way, hopefully done with sanitized and clean instruments, so as not to cause infection. Not that that matters when your insides are all outside.

This teardown comes from IMP3. There aren’t many surprises, but it’s always fascinating to see under the hood. The LePad has a 1.3GHz Snapdragon chipset with Adreno 205 integrated graphics and an internal 27Wh battery. It’s also packs in Toshiba flash memory and a Wolfson audio processor.

Lenovo LePad to launch in June

Lenovo is now finally ready to get specific about a launch date for their upcoming LePad tablet, which was first announced back in June 2010. The tablet will ship in China in March before making its global debut in June.

However Lenovo is keeping the final specs quiet for now as well as which countries will be first to get it. We also don’t have a price yet. We do know that when we last saw it, it was sporting Android 2.2 with a custom “LeOS” skin, a 1.3GHz Snapdragon processor and 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixel display.

Lenovo LePad headed to US in 2011

Good news if you are waiting for Lenovo’s LePad. CEO Yang Yuanqing has told the Wall Street Journal that the Android tablet is scheduled for a 2011 US launch. Lenovo’s COO Rory Read had previously said that the LePad wouldn’t ship in the US until a tablet-ready version of Android was ready to go, so apparently the company is confident that Google will deliver.

The tablet has been pushed into 2011 in China as well.

Lenovo LePad Android Tablet on the way

Lenovo is set to release their Android tablet, the LePad, before the end of the year, but sadly we still don’t have any details about what the specs are. Some are speculating that the Lenovo LePad Android tablet could share similar specifications to the ideaPad U1, which includes a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and a 10 inch multi touch display.

Hopefully we will get some more information on what Lenovo is planning soon and when we do we will pass it on.
