Flexible hands-free book light

Posted in LED by Conner Flynn on December 6th, 2009

Flexible hands-free book lightDespite the image above, what we have here is not a lamp designed to highlight boobs. Though that would be cool too. It’s a reading light that actually looks somewhat useful. It features 2 super-flexible arms along with two high-intensity LEDs on each end.

So it will highlight your boobs as if they were in a high-end gallery and let you see what you are reading. It will cost you $14.95 and makes a great gift for the reader in your life who hasn’t gone all Kindle.

MK 2 Circuit watch

MK 2 Circuit watchThe MK 2 Circuit watch is everything we love about modern watchmaking. The LED watch is integrated into a stainless steel bracelet style band. It comes from Storm of London and it won’t be that much of a pain to figure out the time. It displays just the time and date, but that’s okay. We like it simple.

If cylons wore watches, this is what they would look like. Obviously reading this thing in the dark should be easy. It isn’t too hard to pay for either at just $200.

LED lamp powered by the telephone jack

LED lamp powered by the telephone jackHere’s something you don’t see everyday. This eco-friendly LED lamp gets it’s power directly from the socket that usually connects to your land line phone. The lamp has 8 LEDs bright enough to serve your needs, whatever they may be.

The best part is that it won’t increase your electricity bill. Yes it looks like a piece of cheap plastic crap and it is, costing only $4.70, but hey it’s powered by your phone jack. That’s good enough for us.

Samsung Needle Slim LED TV

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on October 26th, 2009

Samsung Needle Slim LED TVLike a young gal with a modeling contract, LED TVs just keep getting unhealthily thinner. It won’t be long before TVs are little more than sheets of paper on our walls. The Samsung Needle Slim model is a 40″ full HD LED backlight TV that measures just 3mm thick.

That’s pretty impressive when you consider that this 120Hz LCD panel has a 5,000:1 contrast ratio as well. It isn’t available to the masses just yet, but maybe Samsung will roll it out sometime soon.

Portable LED Gas Detector

Portable LED Gas DetectorIf you are worried about a gas leak, you don’t want to just rely on your nose. The LED Gas Detector will do a far better job at telling you if there is gas in the air. The device will detect the most common flammable gases like propane, butane, acetylene and natural gas.

Handy for checking for gas leaks in pipes, your hot water heater, propane grill tanks and more. The gas detector has an LED indicator and an alarm that will activate when flammable levels of gas are detected. The green light means it’s safe and the red light means danger.

LED Bike Light uses an Accelerometer to sense when you brakeBiking can be dangerous. Drivers don’t know when you are going to hit the brakes or make a sudden turn. It would be much safer if you had a brake light. The Spooklight has a wireless handlebar touchpad and an accelerometer that lights up your brake light when you slow down.

Just like how a car works. The LEDs are super bright, and the lithium polymer battery will keep it working for about 60 hours. The Spooklight easily comes off the bike and charges via USB. And yes it will also charge your gadgets while you’re on the go.

LED Jumper Cables from the future

LED Jumper Cables from the futureMost of us have had trouble with a dead battery in our car. It usually happens at the worst possible times. It might be dark or snowing, or raining, or all of the above. Well with these jumper cables, the dark won’t be a problem.

That’s because they have LED lights built in. It’s such a simple solution, we wonder why we haven’t seen more like this. And since every clamp has a light built into it, you won’t have any problems matching the positive and negative. The lights kick on whenever you squeeze the clamps open.

LEDSAUR Dinosaur LED Desk Lamp

LEDSAUR Dinosaur LED Desk LampThese lamps don’t light the room so much as fright up the room. Dinosaurs are scary. They feature powerful, energy-saving LEDs, and the Deluxe version is even equipped with a spine made of variable LED colors that can be adjusted with the included remote control.

Have you ever seen a Jurassic light show before? Neither have I, but these lamps convince me that Dinosaur bones are meant for glowing. Imagine these babies full sized, glowing in a darkened museum. That would be somehow even scarier than the real bones.

Baylis Slikstik led folding walking stick

Baylis Slikstik led folding walking stickYesterday we told you about the Pedomostick, a device that puts a pedometer in a cane, giving those who use a cane some much needed functionality. Well, the Baylis “Slik-Stik” LED Folding Walking Stick is a similar device, updating the walking stick with some useful features.

The Slikstik can wind up to light your way, so that you can be seen in the dark and stay safe. If that isn’t enough, it also makes noise. This one is a great idea. We aren’t sure why the walking stick is getting all kinds of upgrades, but we’re just glad it is. Walking stick users have never had so many options.

The Pedomostick

Posted in Exercise Gadgets by Conner Flynn on July 20th, 2009

The PedomostickJust because you use a walking stick it doesn’t mean that you can’t get in on the whole pedometer thing and count your steps. The Pedomostick from Hammacher Schlemmer is like a regular walking stick, but with an integrated pedometer that will count every step you take.

It will calculate the calories you’ve burned and it will measure the distance and time you’ve walked. That’s not all. It also comes with a built-in LCD in the handle to display all of those stats. Oh and there’s also an LED flashlight mounted in the shaft to light your way at night.

LED Illuminated Message Board

LED Illuminated Message BoardWhy didn’t we have this stuff when I was a kid? Sure, we had Etch A Sketch and Lite-Brite, but kids today have all kinds of cool stuff, like this LED Illuminated Message Board. It’s like a dry erase board. With the appropriate pens you can draw whatever you want on the white display.

After that just hit the switch and the whole thing lights up like a psychedelic chalkboard. That’s sure to get your message across. It can be written on over and over again and will display the colors red, blue, or green.
