Voodoo Envy 133 Super-Thin Laptop
HP & Voodoo has unveiled the Voodoo Envy 133 which is just 0.7 inch thick. The very nicely designed and anorexic desktop replacement features a 13.3 inch LCD display, a fast processor, an SDD drive, WiFi N (100+ Mbps), and has an instant-on OS (most likely linux-based) that can boot super quick to let you access the web and other basic applications. Asus says less bamboo is more, loves Pandas

Asus says less bamboo is more, loves PandasAsus ditched their plans for all-bamboo laptops, much to the delight of bamboo chewing Pandas everywhere. Instead they’ve revealed the U6, which is only bamboo trimmed for that we’re still green statement. I have to say, the look works.

If laptops evolved from the old wood-grain atari console, this is what they would look like. You’ll pay for all that elegance, as it will cost you around $2000. Apparently, plans for the all-bamboo Asus EcoBook were scrapped when heat management became an issue. Good thing too, because otherwise we wouldn’t have this looker.

Dell’s first mini laptop revealed
At the All Things D conference, Gizmodo’s Brian Lam ran into Michael Dell and learned about a new prototype laptop that, until then was all very hush hush. It’s got a bright red candy shell, with the body being similar to an Asus Eee PC.

So those in the market for an Eee PC might want to sit back and wait a bit as it’s about to enter the sub-$500 mini-laptop world. It’s just pics at the moment, but specs will be coming soon. The pics do reveal three USB ports, a card reader, VGA out, and Ethernet.

Log Pillow is exactly what it sounds like

Log Pillow is exactly what it sounds like
The Log Pillow is just that. A pillow comprised of logs. You might have noticed that working with a laptop on your lap can make your legs a bit hot. Ideally, you want to have some sort of buffer between you and the hot laptop.

That’s where this comes in. And yes, this thing looks like someone started to build some kind of plush log cabin and just gave up, fortunately for your lap. At least it’s a solution that should be comfortable, allowing plenty of air flow. It’s also environmentally friendly, made from natural materials like hemp canvas and buckwheat filler.

Xentex laptop knows when to fold em
Much like Kenny Rogers, the Xentex laptop knows when to fold em. It knows when to walk away and when to run. It wasn’t satisfied with simply opening and closing. Oh no. It can fold twice for portability. That means that the system has two 13.3″ screens that can independently swivel so you can share your stuff with your friends sitting opposite you.

Together, the screens combine to measure 19.5″ across for a huge display. Inside it’s got an 850MHz Athlon processor and 128MB of memory. It’s kind of like having a Rubik’s computer. It can be found on ebay and as of this writing it’s at $405.00 with 11 bids, 6 days to go.

OLPC XO 2.0
With the success of the XO laptop from OLPC, it makes sense to start working on a second generation device called the XO 2.0. It will be much smaller compared to the first one, and will feature a foldable e-book factor.

It will also be just half the original’s size, with dual indoor-and-sunlight displays that provide both a right and left page when held vertically, a hinged laptop in horizontal format as well as a flat, dual screen continuous interface for tablet mode. Power suckage has been reduced to just an impressive 1 watt. You’ll have a nice long wait though, since it will be released sometime in 2010.

Eurocom D901C Phantom-X server laptop
Here is a laptop on some serious steroids. The Eurocom D901C Phantom-X has more muscle then is good for it’s battery life, which is a mere hour. Some features include: Quad Core Xeon X3360 2.8GHz processor, 1.5TB of storage space (three SATA-300 drives), 8GB DDR2-800 RAM, Blu-ray burner and a 17″ display. As far as looks, it’s pretty average though.

If you have deep enough pockets, you’ll want to check this laptop out. Just be careful you don’t throw your back out lugging this 12 pound beast. Judging by Eurocom’s other products, it will likely cost you about $3,500.

Epson Endeavor NJ2100 Hello Kitty laptop
The folks at Sanrio never get tired of offering up new Hello Kitty items. I lost count at Two million and five. We really need to send a terminator back in time and take the kitty out once and for all. The latest is this Hello Kitty laptop, which is the Epson Endeavor NJ2100. The pearl white laptop comes in two varieties, one with Kitty flying an airplane and the other features Hello Kitty with flowers.

It’s powered by an Intel Celeron 540 at 1.86GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, DVD drive, Firewire, 3 in 1 memory card slot and a 15.4 inch WXGA screen with 1280 x 800 resolution. Fujitsu’s wooden laptop concept

Fujitsu’s wooden laptop concept
This is Fujitsu’s idea of what a laptop should look like in the forest. Otherwise known as “We need to get on board with this whole environmental green thing. We’re missing out on a ton of hippie money, guys. We can charge more for it too.”

To me it is a bit too reminiscent of the old wood school desks and chairs. I look at this thing and I’m immediately wondering if I have any #2 pencils and if the substitute is going to be a hot babe today. I can’t see many people buying this. I’m not anti-wood, there’s just something strange about it. I suppose if the Amish suddenly start buying laptops and trading in their buggys for segways, I’ll be proven wrong. Until then, I don’t see much excitement about this concept.

Xbox 360 Elite laptop is a masterpiece of mod

Xbox 360 Elite laptop
If you don’t know Ben Heckendorn, the man will modify any game console. Nothing is safe from his artist’s hands, whether he’s making an old Atari 2600 into a portable unit or making an XBox 360 Elite laptop. Basically, the man is a modding God.

Now, he’s turned an Xbox 360 Elite into a laptop, a portable gaming system that can be taken anywhere. The screen has a resolution of 1280×720 which allows for 720p HD viewing, and it has an Xbox camera built in. I’d love to own one, but it’s a custom creation. You won’t be able to buy it anywhere anytime soon. Unless of course you were to commission one.
