LaCie, a maker of rather cool external hard drives, unveiled another one of this sort today in the form of a stylish media unit. It is called the LaCinema Classic and a 500GB version of it retails for around $170.

The LaCie LaCinema Classic is designed to hang out in the media room. Its black and sleek casing is designed by Neil Poulton, known for other LaCie drives. It connects to a HDTV system via HDMI output and works with numerous video, music, and photo formats, including MPEG4, MP3 and JPEG as well as HD-JPEG.

Lacie intros currenkey flash driveLaCie’s latest offering makes their flash drives more portable, though you’ll need to be careful that you don’t unwittingly spend it.

It’s thicker than a coin, but the metal exterior of the USB 2.0 drive provides the illusion, thereby making it easy to lose in a pocket full of change, or worse, in some stores register. It will cost you $20 for the 4GB version and $30 for the 8GB version. Not a bad price for the sizes, so you won’t mind too much when you accidentally pay for something with it and some dude at Walmart has some free pics of your wife…

LaCie’s LaCinema Rugged HDDLaCie’s LaCinema Rugged was announced late last month for those across the ocean, which left us Americans wondering if we would ever get to see it here in the US. Sure enough, here it is, in time for the holidays. LaCie has announced US pricing and availability for the bulked up multimedia drive, and you can get one right now starting at $199.99.

Sizes include 250GB, 320GB and 500GB. It’s rugged in name and rubberized build. Great for the media enthusiast who plans to throw their gear around the room and do all kinds of crazy “Will it still work” tests.

External hard drive manufacturer LaCie is out with a new five-bay RAID solution for small and medium size offices. It is called the 5big Network and it has a starting price of around $900.

The LaCie 5big Network is available in 2.5TB, 5TB and 7.5TB storage capacities. It offers up hot swap and seven RAID modes, including RAID 5 and RAID 6. Storage can be expanded on this drive via its USB or eSATA ports.

LaCie 4big Quadra

LaCie has announced its newest four-bay RAID solution for those needing up to 6TB of storage space at their desk. It is called the 4big Quadra and you can pick one up for a starting price of around $900.

The LaCie 4big Quadra offers a native RAID controller which supports seven RAID modes, including RAID 0 and RAID 5. It is said to offer burst transfer rates reaching up to 200-230MB/s through eSATA 3Gbits and comes in a stackable design which is expandable for up to four units and upwards of 24TB of storage space.

LaCie’s got itself a new designer external hard drive today which is networked for NAS duty. It is called Network Space and you’ll find this drive offering 500GB or 1TB of storage when it becomes available next month.

The LaCie Network Space, which starts pricing around $150, is the latest design for the company by Neil Poulton. It has a black mirror-polished finish, fanless operation and blue LED strip. LaCie says it is usable right from the box by just plugging into an Ethernet port.

LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra 1TB

LaCie said today it would be unveiling a 1TB version of its Little Big Disk Quadra external hard drive for use on the go. The LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra 1TB is pricing at around $660.

The LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra 1TB is an external hard drive which can fit “into the palm of your hand.” It consists of two 2.5-inch hard drives working together in a RAID 0 configuration. Data transfers speeds are said to be upwards of 110MB/s using e-SATA or 80MB/s via FireWire 800.

LaCie earlier this week did some updates to its d2 Blu-ray drive product, including upping the burn speed. The new LaCie d2 Blu-ray Drive prices at around $650.

The LaCie d2 Blu-ray Drive now sports a burn speed of 4x and ecords, rewrites and reads 25 gigabytes (GB) or 50GB BD-R (recordable) and BD-RE (rewritable), as well as DVD±RW DL and CD±RW. Also updated is the aluminum alloy case and software suite, which features Roxio software such as Easy Media Creator for Windows and Toast Titanium for Mac.

LaCie is upping the storage capacity of its rugged design portable hard drive so you can carry more MP3s and such on the go. The LaCie Rugged Hard Disk now maxes out at 500 GB and you’ll find that pricing you between around $300 and $400.

The LaCie Rugged Hard Disk is, like select other LaCie products, designed by Neil Poulton. This particular external hard drive has a scratch-resistant aluminum shell and shock-resistant rubber bumper to protect the latest 500 GB Hitachi hard drive and others.

The fun loving hard drive folks at LaCie recently unveiled another stylish hard drive from industrial designer Neil Poulton. This one is noted for offering a triple interface and is called the Hard Disk, Design by Neil Poulton. Three storage sizes are available, ranging up to 1TB, and pricing is at a maximum around $340.

The latest LaCie Hard Disk, Design by Neil Poulton lets users connect to it through USB 2.0, eSATA and FireWire 400. This makes it cross compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. It has the typical stylish look LaCie seems to be pumping into its desktop drives these days, right down to the blue LED effect and its ambient underside glow.

LaCie Hard Drive has a simplistic designLaCie has put out its share of interesting looking external drives like the Sam Hecht designers and of course that golden number, and they’ve now added to the lineup with this minimalist design from Neil Poulton.

The LaCie Hard Disk, named as simple as it looks, consists of an unobtrusive smooth black box with few distinguishing marks other than the cool blue LED strip (everyone likes cool blue LED strips) on the underbelly and the LaCie brand name on the side. The company says it even runs quietly and cool since it has no fan and uses a “smart” heat dissipation design.

LaCie Golden DiskLaCie is taking what we’ll call artistic freedoms with its newest external hard drive solution. Open your wallets and expect to shovel out around $190 for the Golden Disk come late October.

The LaCie Golden Disk is designed by French designer Ora-Ïto and has 500GB of storage. It’s described as being a “sleek, liquid-inspired device” and should definitely spark some conservations as people pass by your cube. It supports USB 2.0, can be used with Windows and Mac and does, in fact, contain a small percentage of real gold.

LaCie debuts 2TB triple interface external HDDLaCie is thinking big with its latest external hard drive. 2TB big that is. Stomping through the computer lowlands now is the LaCie Big Disk Extreme+. It’s priced at between $350 and $850, depending upon the total storage size you need.

The LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ is available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities. It supports the three major interfaces for transferring files from a Mac or Windows machine to its storage, using FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. It also comes with backup software which can be launched via a one-button press on the body of the drive.
