Non-Shaking Cocktail Cyclone makes Tom Cruise sad

Non-Shaking Cocktail Cyclone makes Tom Cruise sadWhat kind of a world are we living in where we make gadgets for people who are too lazy to shake/stir? If this Non-Shaking Cocktail Cyclone had existed and was widely used years ago, the movie Cocktail would have been completely different and completely boring.

Just press a button and the cyclone action begins. This baby will hold 16 Ounces and runs on 2 AAA batteries. It’s just one of a bunch of gadgets that make us so lazy that in the future, human arms will de-volve into T-rex type baby arms.

The Cherry Chomper is waiting patiently for your finger

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on March 19th, 2009

Cherry ChomperThe Cherry chomper supposedly provides a safe, quick and easy way to pit cherries, but this little guy looks entirely too happy about his job. Like he’s waiting to take a bite out of your finger. A “plunger design action pushes pit and residual juice into the bottom container”.

This little guy has chomped more cherries than Fabio after a book/I can’t believe it’s not butter signing. Yeah, it says the protective ‘tooth’ ensures that hands and fingers stay safely out of the way, but I’m not buying it, because teeth can fall out.

Cook food right on your plate

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on January 26th, 2009

Cook food right on your plateDoesn’t it make sense to cook food in the same place you eat it from? The plate? If you could cook your food right on your plate, think of all the dishes you would no longer have to clean. We already can make a plate that keeps our food warm. But just imagine the water you would save from not having to wash extra pots and pans. You would just be washing plates.

Conductive plates are just concepts right now, but the technology needed to make them work in the real world is available. Right now a big drawback is the cord. Cords at the table are likely to spill wine and just plain get in the way. Despite this minor drawback, I think we are nearly ready for this concept to become a reality.

Trebuchet Toaster launches bread across the room

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on January 25th, 2009

Trebuchet Toaster flings your bread across the roomThis toaster is part of Ivo Vos’s ‘Brunch’ collection. It’s a toast catapult or trebuchet. One cool feature is that it lets you calibrate the force and angle of your toast’s trajectory. Presumably so that you can have a plate all set up in the right place. It’s one of many prototypes for kitchen equipment from the Dutch designer.

It’s all about precision. In fact, the project is intended to be a statement on perfection, precision, and order. But the important thing is this: This toaster launches your damn toast. And that’s awesome. I’m guessing we won’t see it come to market for awhile, which is a shame. Toasters were meant to function in such ways.

Harmonica Kettle plays music

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on November 7th, 2008

Harmonica Kettle plays musicYou haven’t forgotten about the classic kitchen kettle, I’m sure. You know, that thing that whistles when your water is boiled. It’s a pretty basic design that hasn’t really changed. At least, until now. This Harmonica Kettle has a built-in harmonica, as the name implies, instead of the typical whistle. It changes the high-pitched scream into a melody. There’s one problem. This little musical act will cost you $265. That’s one hell of a concert price for making tea.

Digital Thermometer Pan makes for perfect pancakes

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on November 2nd, 2008

Digital Thermometer Pan makes for perfect pancakesMaking Pancakes is trickier then it seems. If your temperature is too low you’ve got a long wait for that perfect pancake. If the temp is too high, you’re gonna burn them. It’s part instinct and part science. But it helps to have a pan that will tell you the precise temperature. After all, once the guesswork is taken out of the equation, all that’s left to do is make some perfect pancakes and eat.

Getting the temperature just right is the true secret of cooking. This Digital Thermometer Pan shows you the exact temp of the middle of the pan, displayed on a removable readout in the handle. It will cost you $50. Completely worth it for that perfect breakfast. The pan is 7.8 inches in diameter, and we’re hoping it shows up in a wide array of sizes.

Electrolux Soft-Refrigerator concept

Electrolux Soft-Refrigerator conceptCheck out this collapsible Soft-Refrigerator concept by Electrolux. It proves once again that an accordion design works great. Through the use of a heat-insulating membranes and modular shelving, this fridge can actually be collapsed and optimized for size. Because sometimes you don’t have a lot of food or you need more room in the kitchen.

When you collapse the fridge there’s less space inside that needs to be cooled, thereby reducing your energy use. Plus it looks kinda futuristic. Who wouldn’t want a collapsible fridge? Let’s say you go shopping on Monday. By Friday, you fridge is waist high again.

Intelligent Cutlery does more then just stab, scoop & cut

Intelligent Cutlery does more then just stab, scoop & cutIf you figured your kitchen utensils were safe from a tech upgrade, you were wrong. The IC3 concept would give your cutlery a computerized body able to hold three interchangeable eating tools: fork, spoon and knife.

The fork wont just stab blindly, it will also analyze the composition of the food, reporting details on fat, protein, and sugars. The spoon will measure weight with the knife acting as a thermometer. All of this information will be compiled into a detailed report so that you know exactly what you’re eating. Screw that. Who wants some nanny telling them what’s good for them. These utensils can go fork themselves.

Made for iPod refrigerator

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2008

Made for iPod refrigeratorMaking its appearance at IFA 2008 in Berlin, the Made for iPod refrigerator is the first of it’s kind. Gorenje might have a winner on it’s hands with this here fancy fridge. Sure, we’ve seen refrigerators with a bunch of multimedia features that allow you to listen to music, watch TV, even surf net, but this is Apple certified. It features a built-in iPod docking station and speakers, so as you might expect, you can play music and video and connect to the internet via a Wi-Fi network.

Apparently by integrating the iPod with iGorenj app, you can control all kinds of Gorenje appliances like washing machines and the oven for instance. The app is not built for iPhone/iPod touch, it’s served from a home server that controls your appliances directly. That way you can use the iPod touch, but also any other web device in your home that uses a Wi-Fi network. Looks like we may have an iKitchen sooner then some of us thought.

Drive bay toaster puts a toaster in your PC
It’s a real pain getting up from your computer and walking to the kitchen to get your favorite snack, toast. You would think that cylon toaster you bought would motivate you. If only you had a way to make toast with your computer.

Wait a minute. You’ve got that spare drive bay that you’ve never used. Meet the CrazyPC 5.25 Bay Toaster, a toaster that fits in a standard 5.25-inch drive bay, and even includes software for adjusting the heat and time. Just insert the bread like a doughy CD and wait. Hot fresh toast is served. I’m not sure how it handles the crumbs. If you’ve ever cleaned out your toaster you know that crumbs will collect on the bottom. Only $29.99.

Toaster makes even your buns toasty, not a Hamster sauna

Toaster makes even your buns toasty, not a Hamster sauna
This toaster is different. The cage on top spins so that your buns can get perfectly toasted on all sides. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that this would be the perfect spa type accessory for your hamster. That tubby furball could stand to lose a few pounds right? Wrong. It would kill him. It’s for toast, it’s not a Richard Simmons hamster treadmill, though I hear that’s available too.

Now that we have that out of the way, this toaster even has a few heating drawers that will keep slices of toast crisp and warm. Hopefully it’s available in more colors. I’d like to see it in chrome, while I watch my buns battle it out in a steel cage match to the death.

Aquavac gets rid of kitchen towels

Aquavac gets rid of kitchen towelsApparently much of the food poisoning and disease that spread around your kitchen do so because of nasty germs living on your kitchen towels. It makes sense. It’s a nice moist environment for breeding.

Student designer Paul Oxley has come up with something that may stop this phenomenon dead. He didn’t throw in the towel, so to speak. The Aquavac. It’s is a small countertop wet vac, which lets you suck up spills into it’s container rather then wiping them up. You can also use it to dry your hands. Germs will be in the Aquavac, not in your kitchen. Pretty simple and great idea.

Garlic Zoom is the perfect garlic chopper

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on June 16th, 2008

Garlic Zoom is the perfect garlic chopperThe garlic zoom is like a little garlic eating Pac-Man. Instead of dots, he eats garlic. Then instead of eating ghosts he poops garlic shavings, making some tasty treats. It’s the beautiful majesty of nature, eat and excrete. It has a clear plastic body with rotating blades inside that are attached to wheels.

Just put a garlic clove inside and roll the wheels back and forth over another food, maybe some bread. Then just roll it back and forth and nicely chopped garlic will be on your bread. The only thing better then helping you with chopping garlic is having two for awesome kitchen racing.

LG Microwave Toaster looks weird, saves space
LG converges the Microwave and the Toaster. The device is not new, but it’s like a UFO sighting, you know they’re out there, but you’re still surprised to see one.

Obviously it hasn’t caught on, which is odd because it’s a great space saver and it frees up an additional power outlet in your kitchen. Maybe it’s tough to clean or something. Anybody out there have one of these? Do you like it?
