Combimouse: Keyboard and Mouse collide

Posted in Mouse by Conner Flynn on June 4th, 2009

Combimouse: Keyboard and Mouse collideThe Combimouse is a combination Keyboard and Mouse featuring a standard QWERTY keyboard and integrated standard mouse. It’s one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen with a QWERTY layout. Apparently they are still looking to bring this to market.

An early combimouse prototype was succesfully tested by Wichita State University and they say they have all of the issues ironed out. The left unit is stationary and provides the function of the left hand side of a conventional QWERTY keyboard. While the right unit has a similar mass and center of gravity to a typical mouse. It also has a similar grip.

Nyko Type Pad Pro brings QWERTY to the Wii

Nyko Type Pad Pro brings QWERTY to the WiiForget other Wii peripherals. This one makes your Wiimote look like an airplane that also sports QWERTY keys. This one is compatible with the Nyko Wand and not so compatible with the Wiimote because it lacks Nyko’s proprietary Trans-Port Technology.

What the Type Pad Pro does is transform an ordinary Nintendo controller into a sort of airplane looking full QWERTY keyboard. Through Trans-Port communication, the A and B buttons on the Wand are relocated to the Type Pad while the pad itself integrates with the Wii through a wireless USB dongle.

The Hunt ‘n Peck Keyboard for those who never learnedThere are those who have never learned how to type. These people use a method called hunt n peck. Understandably, these people have a hard time trying to hunt and peck on a normal keyboard. With this keyboard, just hit the ABC key and it will switch to alphabetical order, making it easier to find the key you need.

For others in the house, those who actually learned how to type, just push the button again and you have a normal QWERTY keyboard. This keyboard also has keys that have common IM abbreviations for you super lazy types.

Sure, that’s a lot of money, but fragging opponents in game is priceless. The sooner you buy it, the sooner you’ll be gloating and getting cheese doodle residue and Mountain Dew all over it.

Mr. Brightside USB keyboard lightDo you enjoy typing in the dark, but others can’t decipher it? When it’s dark by your keyboard Mr. Brightside will help. This flexible reading light plugs into the USB port on your laptop to give you a little bit of extra illumination.

It’s kind of a useless device really. Your screen should be bright enough to light up the keyboard if it’s not lit already. But if you have a dim screen, you’ll be happy to know that it’s only $9 or 3 for $20 and comes in a variety of fruity colors.

Forget steampunk, check out the Art Deco keyboardI always wondered why more modders don’t go for the Art Deco look. I mean Steampunk is awesome when done right, but Art Deco is just as cool. It figures that it would be Datamancer who bridges the gap. They created this awesome Steampunk keyboard, and now are into art deco. It’s about time too.

Hit the link for more pics. Take it all in visually. Then you tell me if Art Deco is making a comeback. If you have a pulse, then you’ll know that the answer is yes.

IGM Heated Keyboard Wrist PadDo you suffer from cold wrists? Apparently it’s a real problem. So says IGM’s Heated Keyboard Wrist Pad. The idea is to sooth your bones while you type away. It’s powered by a USB port. You won’t have to suffer from cold wrists anymore.

And even if your wrists are fine, it probably feels nice in a cold office. It might just help relieve some pain from arthritis or Carpal Tunnel syndrome. Carbon fiber heating elements produce heat in the Far Infrared range which supposedly has some health benefits.

OCZ Alchemy Illuminati keyboard

OCZ Alchemy Illuminati keyboardIlluminati. You’ve heard the conspiracy, now try the keyboard. They really missed out on a catchy tag-line with that one. OCZ Technology might be better known for making memory, but they’ve just announced a new addition to the company’s Alchemy line of peripherals with the Illuminati multimedia backlit keyboard series.

It’s the keyboard that’s hell-bent on world domination, population control, ushering in the new world order and they’re probably working with Aliens and abducting people too. Cause you know, the illuminati are like that. Actually in this case the name just implies that the keys themselves light up when they’re connected to your computer.
