Germ Genie kills germs on your keyboard in minutes with a UV lght sensor

Posted in Keyboards by Conner Flynn on October 5th, 2010

Computer keyboards can contain up to five times the amount of bacteria as toilet seats, or so we’ve heard. Germs are having a filthy and nasty party all over the keyboard. If you want to be healthy you better crash that party.

Germ Genie can help. The device is placed over your keyboard and shines a UV light on the keypad to wipe out those filthy buggers. If you could see them with your naked eye, it would look like a bloody massacre of little germ bodies.

PADACS Toccata iPad Keyboard Case

Posted in iPad accessories by Conner Flynn on October 4th, 2010

We’ve seen a number of iPad cases with integral keyboards, which are handy for easier typing rather than using the iPad’s on screen keyboard. But most have low quality keyboards that you won’t want to use for long typing sessions.

PADACS Toccata Keyboard case is perfect for the heavy duty iPad user, since it sports a built in bluetooth keyboard with plastic keys, similar to more traditional keyboards. The Bluetooth 2.0 keyboard is compatible with a wide range of devices including the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GH (with iOS4) and Bluetooth enabled devices running Windows, Mac or Linux.

Nuu Mini Key puts a physical keypad on your iPhone 4

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on September 6th, 2010

This is a great idea, but just look at how fat it makes your once beautiful iPhone. Well, if you don’t mind the added girth, the Nuu Mini Key case for the iPhone 4 will put a keyboard on your device.

Yes, this is a sliding QWERTY keyboard add-on for the iPhone 4. And it looks ridiculous. It should be going on sale before the end of the year for about $60. If it has to be that fat it should at least include a built-in battery for additional juice.

Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800 heads to market

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on August 18th, 2010

I have been using Logitech keyboards for years and years now and think they are some of the best out there. I have tended to stick to wired keyboard like the old illuminated Keyboard. Logitech has a new wireless version of the Illuminated Keyboard that looks pretty good though.

The keyboard is called the Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800. The keyboard connects to the computer with the 2.4GHz Logitech Unifying receiver. That means that if you have a Logitech wireless mouse you only need that one small USB connection.

Art Lebedev now has a first render of the Optimus Popularis keyboard. Looks pretty sexy and worth the wait. The studio says that it will still cost less than $1000 when it eventually arrives. Look at how cool those new chiclet keys with typewriter spacing look.

You’ll also notice that the numpad is now gone, but apparently the FN key will make it all right. This long awaited keyboard is looking very sweet!

Optimus Popularis to get more touch-sensitive keys

Posted in Keyboards by Conner Flynn on June 24th, 2010

Art Lebedev today said that the upcoming Optimus Popularis keyboard might actually be easier to use than its larger Maximus sibling. Each key is fractions of an inch smaller in every direction and the actual touch surface will run nearly to the edge of the key.

This will guarantee that the keys will be easier to hit as it will be virtually impossible to miss the sweet spot. The Popularis is expected to ship in 2011 and should be physically smaller and also cheaper than its $460 predecessor. It will likely still be a standard USB keyboard but will have both Mac and Windows software to let users reprogram the labels on the keys.

Razer gets into the Tron spirit with new keyboard and mouse

Posted in Keyboards by Shane McGlaun on June 24th, 2010

I know that many of the geeks out there who grew up in the 80′s are fans of Tron. It was hard not to be with all the arcade games that were around with mini games from the original movie. I always liked the Light Bike game. I vaguely recall there being Tron toys when I was a kid too.

With the new Tron movie hitting theaters soon, there is resurgence in Tron merchandise with toys and game controllers. Razer has announced that it has a couple of Tron peripherals coming to celebrate the movie and geek up your gaming rig.
