iJector projects 50 Inches of iPod, iPhone videoThe iJector arrives next month, capable of projecting videos at a decent brightness up to diagonal sizes of 50 inches. It will also play back amplified stereo audio, and even features a “made for iPod” device certification. It will work with just about any video-enabled iProduct. We aren’t positive whether that includes the iPhone 3GS or not.

Here’s the punchline. That 50 inches of projected imagery will have a low 557×234 resolution, and will cost around $670 when it ships in Japan next month. So we aren’t sure why you should bother.

iLuv unveils iPod alarm clock with bed shaker

Posted in Clocks by Shane McGlaun on June 23rd, 2009

iluvbedshaker-sbI have never been one to have a hard time getting up in the morning. My alarm goes off to music and I am up and about my day. My wife on the other hand could sleep through a tornado and never wake up. Her alarm usually wakes me up and then I have to shake her awake to get her to turn it off.

If you are the sort that needs more than a buzzer or music to wake up, the new iLuv iMM153 alarm clock with bed shaker for iPod may be just what you need. The clock supports all dockable iPods and has a 3.5mm auxiliary jack for the devices that can’t be docked.

Lego robot dock assimilates iPods

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on June 17th, 2009

Lego Robot dock assimilates iPodsYou ask us, this is a pretty cool use of Legos. And if companies don’t want to build robot iPod docks, then damnit, we will make our own. The creator actually built this bot-dock about 2 years ago, and only recently decided that it was time to share it with the internet.

The dock is a cannibalized iPod mini dock, and the robot/base is a mashup of several lego kits. (The AT-AT on the right claw gives it away. That, and the LEGOLAND sticker which came with Lego Soccer.) You can find more pics on flickr.

Atari 2600 iPod dock

Atari 2600 iPod dockPut together two iconic classics and you can never go wrong. In this case it’s the iPod and the Atari 2600. The homemade dock puts the iPod connector where the cartridge used to go,(you’re probably using your cartridges as wallets anyway).

How could this be better? With the iPhone of course. With an LCD in the middle so you could play iPhone games properly with controllers. When iPod and Atari 2600’s meet, it’s like geek destiny. It’s a love that will endure forever.

The JinPeng F210 Pocket Phone

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on June 10th, 2009

The JinPeng F210 Pocket PhoneHmmm. This phone looks familiar. Like a combination, iPod, pill, slider in Wii white. I think they may be trying to sucker me on because they know that I love the iPod, pill, slider triple threat. It’s called the Jin Peng F210 Pocket Phone, a basic phone with your typical iPod clickwheel as navigation keys and a 1.3-megapixel camera behind located at the side just like the iPhone.

Some other features include 1.4-inch LCD display, MP3 player, FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and microSD slot. The Jin Peng F210 Pocket Phone will cost you around $125.

Scosche tapStick iPod Shuffle caseIf you’ve been paying attention, the latest iPod Shuffle doesn’t have any buttons on it, the controls are in the headphones, which is fine if you want to listen to it via the headphones, but what about when you want to listen to it in your car or an iPod dock? The Scosche tapStick fits snuggly over your iPod Shuffle and adds controls to the front. Three buttons that have the same functions as the iPod Shuffle headphones. It comes with a 3 foot aux cable. Stocco Maitre touch screen mirror for your iPod

Stocco Maitre touch screen mirror for your iPodHere’s a cool concept for your bathroom mirror! Pretty girl not included. The Maitre mirror from Stocco of Italy comes with a touch screen console that includes a built in radio, clock and barometer, hell, even a mirror demister with a sensor.

It can control and playback audio on your iPod. But what’s the advantage to having these controls on a mirror? Well, you can watch yourself and practice for your American Idol audition. Plus, the mirror probably comes with speakers so you can sing in the shower.

SanDisk: “You Can’t Out-iPod the iPod”

Posted in SanDisk by Conner Flynn on June 4th, 2009

Sandisk 8GB Sansa Clip MP3 playerEli Harari, CEO of Sandisk, recently admitted what has become very obvious. That Apple rules them all when it comes to the portable media player market. Everyone else is just trying to keep up. In a recent Fortune interview Harari admits that “you can’t out-iPod the iPod.”

SanDisk is a distant second place in the sector, and its flash memory is used in all kinds of PMP devices. They can admit that Apple rules in that sector, because flash memory chips are Sandisk’s primary product, not PMPs. Still must have been hard to actually say it.

nesPod iPod case mod

Posted in iPod by Conner Flynn on June 4th, 2009

nesPod iPod case modWe’ve seen plenty of casemods, but the NES will always give us a warm tingly feeling. The nesPod is the work of flickr user recycledgamer. It’s a gutted NES controller and an iPod mini from around 2004-2005. The back has been cut out for the screen and clickwheel.

And that’s all there is to this mod. Pretty simple. NES in front, iPod in back. Your gaming mullet controller has arrived.

iPod Water Phone

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on June 3rd, 2009

iPod Water PhoneWhen you design phones while on crack, there are bound to be some bad results. The iPod Water phone, despite it’s name, isn’t waterproof and it doesn’t even look like an iPhone. These knock-off companies are really slipping lately. I’m very disappointed. I thought the idea was to make your thing look like the other more desirable thing.

The specs are also disappointing, featuring dual band GSM connectivity, a 2.2″ display, audio and video playback, Bluetooth support and a built-in digital camera of unknown megapixel count. It also has an integrated FM tuner to help you keep radio alive.

GEAR4 ChargeDock for iPhone,iPod

Posted in iPod by Conner Flynn on May 31st, 2009

GEAR4 ChargeDock for iPhone,iPodGEAR4 has announced the ChargeDock. They describe it as a “great looking and superbly functional home docking station for iPod and iPhone”. Isn’t that what all docking stations should aspire to be? When you toot your own horn like that, it makes us not that into you. Just fyi.

The ChargeDock claims to include all you need to sync and charge your iPod and iPhone wherever you happen to be using them. You can charge from the AC power supply, or via USB, with the USB sync cable for syncing with your computer’s iTunes library, without having to remove the device from the dock.

iPod nano 5G, Next-Gen iPhone design changes revealed?

Posted in iPod by Conner Flynn on May 26th, 2009

iPod nano 5G, Next-Gen iPhone design changes revealed?Above is a possible snapshot of what the iPod nano 5G will look like, featuring a widened 1.5:1 aspect ratio while still keeping the Click Wheel from prior nano model, which sadly means no touchscreen controls here. A digital camera has also been included in back, although the placement might have your hands blocking it.

It will debut at the same time as the new iPod touch, which is sometime between July and September. Apparently, the next-generation iPhone will come in six versions: two storage capacities each for 3G, enhanced 3G (”3.5G/3.75G”), and China versions of the phone, which will have the same size and general design of the current model, but with a less scratchable matte plastic body.
