Yamaha's TSX-W80, TSX-70 iPod docksAnd the world has another iPod dock. At least Yamaha’s new TSX-W80 iPod dock has a retro flair, sporting some actual knobs. It includes an AirWired cradle that will allow you to use your iPod or iPhone as a remote, a dock on the main unit to charge your iPod, and it’s available in three different colors that have matching LED displays.

Yamaha’s new TSX-70 is a simpler and less fancy affair with no AirWired controller, but you still get the standard iPod dock and the basic clock radio functions. Nothing on a release yet, but both should be available to knob turners in Japan soon.

iPod waterproof music in a tube

Music Tube waterproof iPod speaker dockThis iPod speaker dock from Taiwan’s Nova has a transparent, waterproof covering that looks like a tube of some sort of lotion or gel, complete with a whole in the end where it would hang on display at the store. The idea is to provide a waterproof speaker system for your iPod that lets you bring it into the shower. It also looks like you might even be able to control the iPod through the case but in reality to us it looks like just a cheap way to try to make a waterproof dock.

SHANLING MC-30 IPOD MUSIC CENTERHere’s an iPod dock that took the design path a little less traveled and it appears the results have turned out nicely. The Shanling MC-30 iPod Music Center combines a CD player, AM/FM tuner, iPod dock and a tube power amp into a compact and sharp looking brushed aluminum frame.

The music center runs by an included remote control but also has volume and input selector knobs concealed in the top of the front leg columns. A blue LED light shows off the disc player and an LCD panel on the front displays current settings. The stereo includes quality components from the likes of Philips and Burr-Brown to put out 3 watts per channel from a tube power amplifier.

If you’re looking for a home stereo that centers on your iPod you’ll probably be the only one on the block with one of these, but …

DOC portable speaker dock for iPod nanoWe have to wonder about a lot of the iPod accessories we’ve come across lately, but here’s a handy looking little portable speaker with a built-in dock for 2nd generation iPod nanos. It comes in colors to match the different nano colors (pink, green, black and white), and has a custom-sized dock that fits nicely inside the device while still exposing the navigation controls of the nano.

The DOC speaker dock also has a carrying case and runs on 3 AAA batteries. This portable speaker system appears to be a reasonable solution for those who want portable music without having to wear headphones all time, and it also has a pretty reasonable price. You can pick up the DOC portable speaker dock from Brookstone for $39.99.
