iPhone hitting Walmart by the end of December

iPhone hitting Walmart by the end of DecemberRumors that Walmart would begin selling the iPhone soon have been around for a few days and we now have an answer thanks to Bloomberg. Yes, you’ll be able to get an iPhone at Walmart, and probably by Christmas. Store representatives at several locations confirmed that employees are being trained to sell the handset, which will hit shelves by the end of the month. This makes Walmart the second retail chain to sell the iPhone, and also the largest.

Any truth to the whole $99 4GB model deal? That isn’t confirmed, and is looking unlikely. The $99 iPhone will probably happen eventually according to some, but others claim that a Bentonville, Arkansas location will sell the 4GB model as well as the 8GB and 16GB versions, which have been confirmed at their normal $199 and $299 prices.

iPhone Coffee Table with built-in coaster app

iPhone Coffee Table with built-in coaster appHere’s one nice looking piece of geek furniture. The iPhone’s colorful icons translate well into spots to park your drinks. Oddly and sadly, the iPhone Coffee Table has no special dock for your iPhone, and it won’t run any apps. It’s just a really kick-ass coffee table featuring the home screen.

One cool feature is that each icon features a removable coaster so guests won’t scratch up your giant nerd-decor. The creators claim that it’s “completely made of corrugate and glued together with white glue”. Anyhow, the end result is a beauty.

reviveLITE charges your iPhone, wards off monsters

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on December 4th, 2008

reviteLITE charges your iPhone, wards off monstersThis is truly an odd combo. An iPhone charger paired with that age old way of keeping monsters at bay, a night-lite. It’s a great idea. Should the lite fail for any reason, you can call for help with the monsters. They should have had this when we were kids.

The reviveLITE will certainly make you feel confident enough to sleep with your foot out of the covers and danging over the edge of the bed. It was developed by Scosche Industries, and will charge any and all iPods and iPhones. All you have to do is plug it into a wall outlet and you are safe. The darkness coming from your open closet is a whole other story.

Wal-Mart to Sell $99 4GB iPhone?

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on December 4th, 2008

Wal-Mart to Sell $99 4GB iPhone? So, you’ve been waiting for the iPhone to hit Walmart, so you can stock up on paper towels, buy a DVD and throw an iPhone in your squeaky cart all at once. Well you’re in luck assuming you didn’t get killed by greedy shoppers during black Friday. Looks like Apple will begin selling the iPhone at Wal-Marts on December 28th.

Wal-Mart employees are apparently already receiving training on iPhone activation. Today Boy Genius Report claims that Apple may be reintroducing the 4GB iPhone to be sold at Wal-Mart for only $99 with a two year contract. They aren’t completely confident about the report, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. However, the Walmart training materials pictured above have been seen so that suggests there is some truth to it.

Drive the Batmobile using your iPhone

Drive the Batmobile using your iPhoneYou may now pilot the Batmobile for the low price of $0.99, thanks to Glu Mobile and your iPhone/iPod Touch. You can mess around and drive through the Batcave, the streets of Gotham City and even rooftops.

It looks like more fun then any Bat-fan should be able to have for a dollar. According to Kotaku there’s only about a minute or so worth of gameplay, but still we’re talking a lousy buck here. It looks nicely put together and well thought though. So it will be an awesome minute.

Tire Tread iPhone 3G case

Tire Tread iPhone 3G caseHere’s an iPhone case that’s a bit different. If you’re in the market for a case for your iPhone 3G, but you “tire” from the search, this may be for you. The Case-Mate Vroom Tire Tread Pattern Case features 100% impact resistant rubber and it’s only $15.

Its rubber case can protect your expensive phone by cushioning the blow of impact of course. But there’s an unseen danger most users ignore. What if…Just what if it slipped from your gadget loving hand? The tire tread pattern will prevent iPhone hand slippage and at the same time send others a message. Presumably, “Don’t tread on me.”

Silicone Touch: An iPhone case for the blind

Silicone Touch: An iPhone case for the blindThe iPhone has never really been a friendly device for the blind, so this case designed by Bruno Fosi is fairly impressive. The Silicone Touch covers the iPhone’s screen and features a selection of bas-relief buttons that correspond to menu items in a custom app.

This lets the visually impaired access all of the phone’s functions, even multi-touch and finger flick scrolling. None of the phone’s functions are compromised. It’s just a concept at the moment, but this is one that we hope will see the light of day very soon.

China produces knock off flip iPhone

China produces knock off flip iPhoneWe’ve seen our share of knock-offs coming out of China, but this one is downright funny. They’ve taken the iPhone and turned it into a clamshell style phone. Funny thing is, it resembles a MacBook more then an actual iPhone.

It is attractive with the brushed aluminum casing and the iPhone look inside, but I’m guessing that performance isn’t up to par. Surprisingly, the camera is 3-megapixels, more than on most mid to low-end phones. It also sports a 2.6-inch display with a resolution of 240 x 320. It’s pretty small at 105 x 53 x 17mm and about 110 grams. One giveaway that this is a crap-gadget are the LED lights under the apple. I guess that’s the best they could do.

m888a iPhone Nano clone
Here’s an interesting clone. The m888a will let you own a smaller sized iPhone, with dull specs. An iPhone mini-me. Just keep in mind that your fingers remain the same size. Specs include: a 2.4-inch touchscreen with stylus, dual-band GSM and a VGA camera, even comes in black and white in an Apple-like package. One thing that the original doesn’t have and the m888a does is dual-SIM support and freedom to be on any GSM network.

iPhone 3G Incase Power Slider doubles the battery, lets you sync

iPhone 3G Incase Power Slider doubles the battery, lets you syncIncase is at it again. Their latest iPhone offering, The Power Slider, will double your iPhone’s power for up to 5 hours of talk time on the 3G network and 10 hours on 2G. It will increase your audio playback time to 26 hours, and give you video playback time to 7 hours.

Pretty nifty. But that isn’t all. With this device, you can now sync with the iPhone still in the case, which is pretty convenient. Amazingly it doesn’t make your iPhone look too bad, though it does fatten it some. We’ve seen much worse. No word on price yet, but it should be available on November 28.

iPhone Hand Grip charger makes you work for a full battery

iPhone Hand Grip charger makes you work for a full batterySometimes going green can be a real pain. Take this green concept for instance. This iPhone hand grip charger will give you Hulk hands before you even get a full battery. Great for a hand workout, but you’d have to be pretty dedicated to your iPhone to stick with it.

This concept is called “You can work it out” and it was designed by Mac Funamizu, who must have huge beefy clown hands and an always working iPhone. Apple should offer some accessories like this ala Wii Fit. Various exercise gadgets to power up Apple products owned by the obese. It would be green and lean. That’s the slogan right there.

Last Call iPhone app tells you how drunk you are

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on November 17th, 2008

Last Call iPhone app tells you how drunk you areThe Last Call iPhone app tells you how drunk you are, because you are probably way too far gone to judge for yourself. It determines this using your weight and how many drinks you’ve had already. It also calculates your drunkenness by what type of alcoholic beverages you’ve consumed, and it will even offer advice on what to do next now that you’re three sheets to the wind.

If you’re too blitzed to drive, you can press a button and it will call a taxi for you. Best of all, it’s free, which means more booze money. Now all you need is an app that shows how much of your liver is still healthy and calculates how much more drinking you can do until your final days.
