The DryCASE Tablet is the latest gadget to keep your iPad dry at the beach, doing the same job that a large ziplock bag would do. The DryCASE Tablet, much like a large ziplock bag, is compatible with the iPad 2, as well as other tablets like the Samsung Galaxy and the Amazon Kindle.

Apparently it is vacuum-sealed, but it is still just a bag and not the best solution. I wonder how the touchscreen functions in this? The DryCASE Tablet will cost you under $60.

We aren’t sure which countries these are, but so far this month Apple has launched the device in places like Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea. There’s just no stopping the iPad 2. The company’s international push started on March 25th.

Everlight Electronics has reportedly delivered samples of its LED backlight products to Apple, according to China Times. Since Everlight’s products are intended for use in tablet-style devices, it makes sense that Apple is exploring the idea of using the company’s LED backlights for the iPad 2.

Apple has steadily expanded the availability of the iPad 2, launching it in new countries and adding new retailers in the U.S., but component supplies for the iPad 2 are reportedly constrained, so Apple is looking various ways to meet the demand. This also might help to cure the bleeding backlight issue in some iPad 2 tablets.

They will repeat this process for each new incoming class as well.

That’s gonna be expensive, but they feel it is worth it. It will cost the school system about $200,000 next year, including Apple’s $25 discount from the tablet’s regular retail price. No wonder this school is already looking for a 5 percent budget increase.

Apple confirms glitch with Verizon iPad 2

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 10th, 2011

Remember when iPhone owners complained about AT&T’s network and could not wait for the day they could use their Apple devices on Verizon’s network? It wasn’t so long ago. Well, we have iDevices on Verizon now and guess what? It isn’t all it was cracked up to be. The grass always seems greener on the other side.

Verizon iPad 2 users are having reboot problems. Apple calls the number of users with problems “small”, but they have acknowledged the problem after message boards went crazy this week with customers complaining they are having difficultly accessing Verizion Wireless’s 3G data network.

Verizon 3G iPad 2 owners report reboot problem

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 8th, 2011

Looks like Verizon-based Apple gadgets have a recurring reboot problem. Owners of Verizon’s native iPad 2 with both Wi-Fi and 3G (in 16, 32 and 64GB memory configurations) are complaining that they have to reboot their devices if they want to connect to 3G after previously switching that feature off.

Wi-Fi works just fine apparently, but 3G connections can take several minutes or just never happen. It doesn’t seem like all Verizon iPad 2 users are having this problem, but the complaints from those who are affected are very similar. It just goes to show that Verizon has it’s own set of problems with iDevices, much like At&t
