Samsung Instinct is Best Buys best selling handset

samsung-instinct.jpgAll of the mobile phone makers want to grab their share of the touchscreen mobile phone market. This has resulted in a slew of would be iPhone killers hitting the market and so far not one of the iPhone me too’s has really made much of a dent.

When Samsung introduced its sprint exclusive Instinct handset it even looked a lot like the iPhone and many wondered if it would be another disappointment. It only took a few weeks after the Instinct’s introduction to see that it was a hit with Sprint saying it was breaking sales records and due to its popularity the device was hard to find.

Samsung InstinctWe have talked about the Samsung Instinct before here at SlipperyBrick. This week Sprint announced that the phone would be available on June 20. The price for the device will be $129.99 after a 2-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate.

The Instinct was originally pegged at a price of $199; Sprint surely felt pressure to drop the price after the iPhone 3G came in at $199. The Instinct looks very similar to the original iPhone, though it adds a couple buttons to answer and disconnect calls to the front.

Samsung Instinct now $199 after rebate
Is this the best Sprint and Samsung phone ever? Many of us think so. And it just got better. Thanks to the unveiling of the iPhone 3G with it’s $199 price tag, Sprint rethought a few things.

Like offering an extra $100 mail-in rebate which levels the playing field with AT&T. Apparently, current customers can buy the phone without renewing their 2-year contract, which is good news for those who want to switch carriers.
