Sega Toys indoor fireworks projectorFireworks are awesome. Big booms accompanied by pretty lights are always cool. But alas, indoor fireworks are dangerous. So rainy days tend to be boring. Not anymore. Sega Toys has unveiled the Uchiage Hanabi. Now you can get your fireworks on indoors.

It’s a projector that displays “fireworks” on your walls and ceilings, with realistic movement and sound. You can even create your own fireworks and program your own shows. You won’t feel the booms and you won’t smell the smoke, but at least it’s pretty.

LG announces new 14.1-inch LCD for outdoor/indoor useThe one problem with working on a laptop outdoors is that the screen does not adapt to the natural light, which takes the portable out of the whole portability thing. Well, LG has rolled out a new 14.1″ LCD monitor for use both indoors and in outdoor environments, bringing adaptive backlight displays to a new level.

LG’s latest offering will give you optimum screen visibility under virtually any condition, since you can switch from Transmissive mode to Reflective on-the-fly. LG claims that the innovative display will also help prolong your notebooks’ battery life, although that remains to be seen.

VR Treadmill
For those who believe that they can only get an effective workout outdoors, here’s something that will trick you into getting in shape without hitting the front door. What we have here is basically a fancy treadmill with a curved VR display on top.

It’s a great distraction from your workout, but imagine the video game possibilities. You could actually run around while fragging people. Better yet, jog around the halls of the Starship enterprise or on Mars. Doctor Who fans could pretend that they are being chased by Daleks. Oh yes. It has the potential to get everyone exercising. Especially nerds. At last nerds will be fit and rule the world.

NatureMill PRO indoor composter
Composting is great for the environment, but it’s often a problem of having somewhere to set up a compost pile. If you live in an apartment, you can’t just leave a pile rotting just anywhere. The NatureMill PRO is perfect for this situation. It can deal with up to 120 lbs of food waste per month, and in about every 2 weeks you have a fresh supply of compost you can use for your window garden, etc.

What about the smell? Well, they apparently have that covered too. The cultures used in the NatureMill PRO will produce a mild aroma similar to mushrooms. You likely won’t even notice until you open the lid. The NatureMill PRO costs $399 but there is a cheaper option at $299. If you are a pet owner, there’s even a Pet-friendly version for $399. That one’s specially tuned to deal with pet waste. There’s always another cheaper option, which is to throw it all out the door, but a steaming pile of rotting garbage never endears you to your neighbors.
