Scantoaster puts the Internet onto your bread

Scantoaster puts the Internet onto your breadWhen you think about it, it’s kind of weird that toast is such a hugely popular food. I mean it’s basically burnt bread that’s ready to crumble in your hands. What’s weirder are all the new ways we’ve found to enjoy toast. We can even make it in our PC’s and decorate it with a frakken cylon. The Scan Toaster printer concept takes it all a step further, from designer Sung Bae Chang.

Details are a bit thin, but it connects to the internet via USB and can print images or text on bread using a flexible “module” unit heated by a wire. What it means is that you could read the news on the very breakfast that you eat. The Scan Toaster concept was a finalist in the 2008 Electrolux Design Lab competition. Sadly, it may be awhile before it hits the kitchen.

The Camoria camera knows how you feel

The Camoria camera knows how you feel
This camera will catalog your entire life with pictures, based on how you were feeling at the time. The concept camera fits over-the-ear and sees what you see. Makes me wonder if designer Akbiyik Volkan has memory problems, or maybe he just likes to be reminded about what he’s feeling for some unknown reason. Probably just a control freak.

Me, I don’t get it. I have my memory to tell me how I was feeling this day or that day. Then again, these days, with so many people on prescription drugs and otherwise, walking around like zombies, this may be a handy tool.

Convert your photos directly to DVDs

Convert your photos directly CDs
Do you hate it when you have to copy tons of pics from your camera onto the PC, then burn them using software so that they can later be viewed on your DVD player? Yes, there are plenty of cameras that offer TV out, but maybe you love your current camera and don’t want another.

If that’s the case, check out this device that does it all, without a PC. It’s a compact recorder for converting your JPEGs to MPEGs and burning them onto CDs. It can also burn images without converting, making back-ups easier. Comes equipped with RCA and S-Video inputs and also acts as a player.

Mind blowing chair sends images to brain via skin

Posted in Furniture by Conner Flynn on February 5th, 2008

Mind blowing chair is creepyThe Mind Chair will blow your mind if the product description is accurate and can be believed. It uses sensory substitution techniques that enable the sitter to see moving images right in their brain. The nerves in the skin are the mode of transport. Cool and yet very very creepy. Just sit somebody down in this thing and you could interrogate them as if you had just pumped them full of psychotropic drugs.

The Mind Chair will be made available to curious onlookers at the MoMA in New York as part of the Design and the Electric Mind exhibition. Problem is, like a scene from some Phillip K. Dick novel, did you experience what you thought you did? Or in reality did they sit you down in that chair and brainwash you? I suppose you’ll never know. Sucks to be you. I’m staying away from the chair, thank you.
