Isuppli tore down a Touchpad and in doing so they found that the cost is $318, with another $10 for manufacturing costs. $132.50 for the display and touchscreen parts make up the most expensive assembly, which is 41.7 per cent of the cost.

The next most expensive part is the NAND flash memory, costing $45. The mechanical/electromechanical system is next at $30. The HP 32GB Touchpad sells for $599, so the markup is $271. It’s always fun to know what it costs compared to what it costs us.

Fans of the HP TouchPad now have a chance to see what makes it tick. Assuming you haven’t torn it apart yourself anyway.

The HP Touchpad is easier to take apart than most gadgets. You just need a Phillips screwdriver and a little prying. But it’s always nice when others do it for you. That way yours remains intact and functional. Check it all out at the link below.

HP TouchPad to be available June 22nd, $500 for 16GB?

Posted in HP by Conner Flynn on June 8th, 2011

This isn’t official, but Synnex has possibly leaked some info on the HP Touchpad. According to some listings on its website, the HP TouchPad is estimated to be available on June 22nd in both 16GB and 32GB capacities for $499.99 and $599.99.

If you are looking for accessories, an HP-branded TouchPad case is also listed. Of course, that date is an ETA not an actual release date, but it’s pretty close to the last official word out of HP. Shouldn’t be long now anyway.

HP TouchPad at OfficeMax on July 17th?

Posted in HP by Conner Flynn on May 30th, 2011

It looks like OfficeMax may be getting the HP TouchPad in July. If the document above is the real thing, HP’s new 9.7-inch tablet will be available at the retailer on July 17th in 3G and 4G versions.

That’s a bit strange because the company hasn’t made any mention of WiMAX or LTE compatibility. Rumor is that it might have a $600 price tag for the 32GB model. None of this is confirmed so we will just have to wait and see.
