And you thought that the velcro on your jacket was impressive. These Velcro fasteners were made by German engineers and can withstand 35 tons of force. Needless to say, these aren’t for your clothes. One side has spikes and the other has steel brushes, so it’s just like real velcro. It can also withstand heat of up to 800 degrees Celsius.

And if you tear these Velcro strips vertically, where it’s stronger, it can hold up to 7 tons. We aren’t sure how much of this stuff it actually takes to support that much weight, but it’s pretty amazing anyway. Especially when you consider that just like everyday Velcro, it can be opened up without specialized tools and used again.

A group of German students have somehow managed to use the Wii Balance Board from Wii-Fit to navigate their way around Google Earth. Specifically to surf Google Earth. Talk about a creative way to use a Wii accessory.

It’s really not all that impressive, and these guys are no Silver Surfer, but I guess it’s the first step in being able to fly or surf around the world virtually. And when that day comes, it will be sweet to do this in a nerd hero costume, while playing theme music. Video below.

I can only assume that this awesome looking art-deco style turntable is the direct result of Tim Burton and Beetlejuice wanting to listen to some vinyl together.(The stripes. Get it?) The design is really simple, yet awesome. Thing is, you’ll need a hefty bank account, as this thing is priced to suck up your money faster then a gold-digger needing botox.

Prices start from $47,000 upwards. That’s a ton of dough for a bunch of black circular rings with a silver aluminum backdrop. Germans being the engineering elite that they are, I’m sure it’s top notch, but we’re playing freakin records here. The Lusso features three height adjustable connected cones made from alternating layers of aluminum and black acrylic.

We’ve all seen our share of fake knock-offs, especially with the iPhone. Some are just straight clone attempts, while others are a bit strange. This one is just plain F@%#ing weird. The Toggolino Phone shames itself quite nicely, right there in the packaging.

Apparently the device comes packaged with a German kit that teaches German rugrats how to associate words with animals or…something. You could very well be looking at the next Speak and Spell toy. Looks pretty fun actually.
