Maximilian Busser’s Frog watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on May 4th, 2010

Imagine if you will, a frog that became assimilated by the Borg. This awesome design from watchmaker Maximilian Busser is kinda like that. It’s been designed by Horological Machine Number 3 and Busser and is called simply the Frog.

The shape and style is designed to “bring a child’s sense of awe and sense of playfulness” to all those who look at it. The two large, bulging domes indicate hours and minutes. Those domes are made of sapphire crystal so no scratches.

Your frog can go from tadpole to Jedi Master with the Dagobah frogtank

Your frog can go from tadpole to Jedi Master with the Dagobah frogtankNow I’ve seen everything and I suddenly want to raise frogs thanks to this Dagobah frogtank. That’s right, you can put your frog in a Dagobah environment, teach him to lie to others about his Jedi master identity, then train them to lift X-wings from the swamp while talking cryptically.

It features a Hideaway Hut, Yoda figurine, a Vented, see-through lid for safe and easy viewing and a Feeding hatch. Only $39.99. Grow legs your tadpole will. Then he will be strong in the force.

Ribbit MP3 player from Toys R UsWell, this is certainly the strangest MP3 player we’ve seen this week. Too bad they didn’t go all Kermit the Frog with this guy. They may have actually sold more. The Toys R Us ‘Ribbit’ MP3 player comes with five play modes (normal, repeat one, repeat all, folder, repeat folder). And an eight-mode equalizer.(normal, rock, pop, classical, bass, jazz, soft, and SRS WOW)

It also sports a high-speed USB 2.0 interface, play-list function, and support for seven languages. A built-in rechargeable Lithium Ion battery is the power source. Not bugs. You’ll get up to six hours of continuous playback with a fully charged battery.

Frog shows off LED light bulbs

Posted in LED by Conner Flynn on September 3rd, 2008

Frog shows off LED light bulbsFrog Design has been busy re-inventing the light bulb, while Edison mumbles and rolls over in his grave. Frog is the legendary firm that has designed some of the first Apple computers, Sony TVs, and a whole lot of other neat stuff that you probably love.

Now they’ve upgraded the LED bulb in a form that those consumers who hate change, may just embrace. They apparently have a 30-year lifespan, better color rendering and no harmful pollutants like compact fluorescents. It’s a great idea that would convert tons of consumers who prefer baby steps or simply prefer the old style bulb look.

Is frog-inspired design the future of biking?

Frog inspired bike design conceptDesigner Alex Suvajac apparently thinks so. Obviously frogs inspire him. The result is a sleek concept track bike that looks a lot like an aerodynamic racing amphibian on two wheels. It is as much a work of art as it is a bike, blending space age and technological looks with nature.

I’m not sure about leaning that far forward to hold onto the handlebars. Then again, this beauty is obviously built for speed and since “being one with nature” is obviously the theme, why not lean into it and merge with the frame. Hopefully, that doesn’t mean swallowing a bug or two along the way. As cool as this bike is, it remains just a concept for the moment. It is however, proof that nature has a lot to offer when combined with technology. Especially aesthetically.
