Hot Wheels Stealth Rides RC Cars fold up, are credit card sized

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2010

Well parents, here’s something else you can step on and hurt your foot. Mattel’s ‘Stealth Rides’ are the latest from the Hot Wheels brand. These are real RC cars that fold down to a credit card sized package that’s about as thick as a cellphone, which makes them very convenient to carry in your pocket.

Look for them to be available in August for about $25 each. There are 5 different models, which include cars, some tanks and the Tumbler from Batman. Apparently these cars will run for 30 minutes, before they need a recharge.

Joseph Joseph Fold Flat Kitchen GraterThe grater is an essential kitchen tool. But there are so many essential kitchen tools, that putting them all away and keeping the kitchen neat can be hard. Graters have always been a problem. Their squarish form is great for food prep, but not for storage in the cabinet.

Well, that just changed thanks to this Fold Flat Kitchen Grater from Joseph Joseph. It does what it says and folds flat for easy storage. There’s even a grip handle on the side for grating over food. The Fold Flat Grater features coarse stainless steel blades and is dishwasher safe.

ASUS Fold/Unfold laptop will be releasedAsus’s Fold/Unfold concept that they showed off at CES is actually going to be released, according to Asus CEO Jerry Shen. The notebook will cost somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500. The Fold/Unfold (Lets hope it gets a better name) should arrive around September or October 2009.

The design maximizes space for the keyboard and trackpad by sliding the keyboard forward over the trackpad when the laptop’s closed, and sliding back to reveal it when open. It’s an interesting development given the size limitations of netbooks while wanting to maximize keyboard space.

Nokia 3610 Fold announced

Nokia 3610 Fold
The Nokia 3610 Fold is an interesting handset just announced that features dual screens. The clamshell design features ergonomics that Nokia is calling “understated elegance.” Outside you’ll find a 1.3 megapixel camera with 6x digital zoom, along with the external display.

Inside you’ve got a 2-inch, 262K color screen and the Nokia phone softkeys. It also supports up to 4GB microSD cards. It gets released officially in the third quarter of this year at $186. While I wouldn’t call it sexy, it does have a certain charm. It’s aimed squarely at those who just want basic features without a bunch of bells and whistles.

The Sun Fold Bike concept

Sun Fold Bike concept
This one was conceived as a green and portable commuter transport. What we have here is a fold-up bike that runs on solar power obviously. The name says it all. Power is stored in a battery that you can use at night, and you can even power your other gadgets, like your iPod.

It looks kinda cool in bike form, but when you fold it up it resembles an alien egg that appears to be sending signals to it’s home world. In fact it’s not sending signals, but it’s pointed upward so that it can track the sun’s movements in order to maximize the power it’s sucking down. Even so, it’s still creepy. One day it might get it in it’s head that you belong in that egg so it will keep you there as it points toward the sun, warming you in your egg, so that you can hatch out as a new lifeform.
