Target Speed Racer gift card flash drive
Target sure knows how to market themselves. Warner Brothers does too. The proof is in these awesome gift cards. Target’s Wii cards looked really cool, sure. But these Speed Racer themed cards feature a USB flash drive which makes them useful too. They include an integrated inch-long USB cable that’s flush in the card and is released via a mechanical switch on the bottom edge. The cards only hold about 62.8 MB, but the upside is that 51.6 MB of that is packed with awesome Speed Racer promotional materials. Stuff like a PDF coloring book featuring the Mach 5 and other vehicles, coupons for Speed Racer toys, wallpaper, videos and even a cheat code for the Wii Speed Racer game.

The cards are obviously a team-up between Target and Warner Brothers, to promote the new Speed Racer movie. It’s a pretty smart idea. I’m not sure if you are required to actually put any money on them or not.

Asus mouse & flash drive combo

Asus mouse & flash drive combo
When two devices collide into one new hybrid device, the results can often be “What the hell were they thinking?”. This hybrid from Asus is one such cross-breeding experiment. It’s a flash drive from Asus that is also a wireless mouse. While it’s not the worst I’ve ever seen, I don’t see myself using this anytime soon.

Being a flash drive, it must be as bulky as it looks, so you wouldn’t want this in your pocket. As far as the mouse goes, who can use something that small? This isn’t for me, but if it pleases your tiny hands, you’ll have to wait for pricing and availability info, as we simply don’t know yet.

Corsair Flash PadlockProving USB drives can both be ugly and functional Corsair rolled out today the Flash Padlock. This manual security code dependent device is available in 1GB ($30) and 2GB ($40) capacities.

What is perhaps most interesting about the Corsair Flash Padlock is that you can set a PIN up to 10 digits long for accessing the drive’s contents. You have to then enter this PIN on the keypad built into the drive’s body. The Flash Padlock also seems noteworthy for its security feature of automatically locking itself when you remove it from an attached PC.

Lego USB Flash Drive from ZipZipUSB flash drives come in all shapes and sized these days, and not even a lego brick can escape it.

A Australian company called Zip Zip has created a 1GB USB flash memory thumb drive out of small Lego bricks just to add a little fun to you data storage needs.

This design makes me wonder if you could stack these bricks together, and something that would be really cool is if by stacking them you could expand the memory. But for now I think they are just regular Lego bricks with a flash drive built in.

The Lego USB flash drive comes in six colors of yellow, blue, red, white, black and green and retails for just under $49 ($59 AUD).
