Razer is all about mice and keyboards for the hardcore gamer and now it is offering the Ironclad elite hard gaming mouse mat. It’s the only metal mat from Razer specially made to to enhance and optimize the gliding capabilities of your mouse.

It features a finely sandblasted surface, to minimize hand discomfort while feeling smooth to the touch, providing natural mouse movement. It is made from anodized aluminium, with unibody construction for reinforced strength and durability.

The Halo aliens look scary on screen. I mean these are some bad-ass aliens, huge aliens, in armor. With guns. Everytime I play, I thank god I’ve never seen the real thing. Now I have. And I have wet myself.

This costume is so realistic, it’s scary. The animatronic Halo Elite costume was created by effects artist Pete Mander and could easily be used in a movie. It’s over seven feet tall and took countless hours to build. The man is a genius.

It’s an official release from Microsoft and will be available on October 15th. This would go well with the all black X-Box Elite or even the Resident Evil console. The X-Box 360 Controller & Charger retails for $69.99 at GameStop. Looks kinda spider-like.

We already knew that the Xbox 360 Elite would be replacing the current Pro model, but a new ad outted by Kotaku backs up those rumors and confirms that the Elite will also be taking over the Pro’s $299 price point.

Obviously none of this is official, but the ad shows the date for the price drop as August 30th, so we will likely hear from Microsoft before that date.

Some leaked packaging images suggest that only two models of the Xbox 360 will be available in the future. Depicted in the above photo are current and planned boxes for the 360 Arcade; the latter box lists only one other 360, the 120GB Elite.

The Pro, in production since 2005, is MIA. It’s typically the best-selling Xbox system. The photo backs up earlier reports that Microsoft is phasing out the Pro. Game bundles may help clear out earlier stock, after which the Elite’s price is expected fall to that of the Pro in September.

HP announced a new range of desktop PCs, along with an update to their MediaSmart Server software for TouchSmart PCs. Slimline, Pavilion and Elite desktops have all been announced, together with a new Compaq Presario desktop.

AMD and Intel processors are available across the ranges, and Blu-ray is an option on some models. The Pavilion Slimline features an AMD Athlon single-core LE1660 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 320GB hard-drive, up to a Pentium dual-core CPU, with twice the RAM and a 500GB drive. The Pavilion has an AMD Sempron LE1300, while the Pavilion Elite starts with a dual-core AMD Phenom II X2 and goes all the way to an Intel Core i7-920 with 6GB of DDR3 RAM, 750GB storage and a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card.

This may be nothing… but ArsTechnica has some info from a reliable source that Microsoft is preparing to ship a new Xbox 360 Elite. This one would come bundled with Halo 3 and Fable 2, while only costing $400. That’s what the console alone costs right now.

We recently heard rumors that Microsoft was going to phase out the standard Elite and offer bundled “limited edition” models, so the info fits.

HP just debuted its new Pavilion Elite m9600 series with Core i7 processors. HP gives you a decent amount of power for the price. The base configuration gets you a Core i7 920 2.66Ghz processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GS graphics and a DVD burner, all for $950.

You can kick that up to a Core i7 940 2.93GHz processor, 12GB of RAM, a couple of 1TB hard drives, 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics and a Blu-ray burner. HP also has four new 16:9 monitors, the 18.5-inch w1858, 20-inch 2009m, 21.5-inch 2159m and 23-inch w2338h. The latter two include HDMI inputs, and the prices range from $170 to $300.

The latest rumors suggest that Microsoft is considering putting the Xbox 360 Elite on the back-burner, while they take no more orders and allow stocks to dwindle. That way the Elite could be treated as a limited-availability option, on sale on at select European and US retailers. It is believed that retailers prefer only two SKUs, low-end and high-end.

Any remaining Elites on sale would more likely be special editions, like the red Resident Evil 5 package announced last month. Elite packages take longer to sell than the Arcade or Pro 360s, so this is what they want.

Well, this makes it almost official. A new red Xbox 360 Elite is coming. This news came via the usual route. Sort of: First it began as a rumor, then a retailer inventory listing and then an innocent mention in a New Zealand press release.

An MS New Zealand promotion for the upcoming release of Halo Wars, buy a 360, get a free copy of the game, explicitly excluded “the Red Xbox 360 Elite console which is exclusive to EB games.” Yeah, the one that hasn’t been officially announced. Like my other question of the evening concerning color, I ask again: Would you get a new red Xbox 360? Or no?

This one isn’t rumored to surface at all and we don’t expect to see it at MacWorld 2009. It should arrive eventually though, just because it is well thought out and just makes sense. This concept was born because Mat Brady wants to get rid of his Nokia N95 but won’t buy an iPhone due to the lack of a physical keyboard, no good camera, and not enough storage.

Mat’s concept is called the iPhone Elite. It’s an iPhone with 60GB of storage, true 16:9 aspect ratio, slide-out keyboard, one megapixel front camera for iChat, and another high quality camera, with better lenses, optical zoom, and video capability.
