New Koss earbuds screw-to-fit your ear holesI don’t know about you, but I have problems with most earbuds. They just don’t stay put and fall out because they don’t fit my ears properly. Well, here’s an awesome solution. Koss’s CC_01 earbuds replace those foam or rubber tips with an expandable and contractable system.

All you need to do is turn the metal screw on the back of the earbuds, and the tips will adjust to fit you. Simple and amazing engineering. And great news if you, like me, are annoyed by regular old earbuds. It’s a little odd to see Koss, a manufacturer of low-priced ear-stuff, with earbuds priced at $150, but perfectly adjustable fit is a great idea. And I for one have had so much trouble with earbuds, that I find it tempting.

Earbud Yo-Yo prevents tangles

Earbud Yo-YoI decided to use my earphones with my iPhone the other day and when I reached into the drawer to grab them there was a huge knot that resulted in a mass of earphones, computer mice, and paper clips coming out of the drawer. It took me a good ten minutes to untangle the mess and I wished for something to prevent that from happening again.

A new device is being offered called the Earbud Yo-Yo that is designed to keep your earbuds from being tangled inside your desk, purse, or brief case. It’s easy to see where the products name came from when you look at the device; it looks like a yo-yo minus the string.

Earbug insect earbuds from Brightonnet
No doubt some unlucky few have actually had bugs crawl into their ears. I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard stories. That’s got to drive you nuts just knowing something is wiggling around in there getting ready to eat your brain.

So why anyone would want to tempt fate by wearing these cutesy insect earbuds from Brightonnet is beyond me. The last thing you want to do is attract the real thing into your ear canal. Still, if you’re cool with that, they go on sale in Japan on July 14 and will cost about $ 12. Just don’t come freaking out to us. These would go great with the pigs earbuds.

Greenhouse pig shaped earphones
If you like to stand out in a crowd, these pig earphones from Greenhouse are the perfect way to get some attention. One of your ears will look like a pig is diving in, while the other ear will look like it’s flying out after having devoured your brain. Perfect for farmers, and pig owners. I can’t think of anyone else who would want to use these.

They’re codenamed ‘GH-ERC-PIG’ for some insane reason and they come in three colors. Pink, white and black. The little pigs have an output of 10mW, impedance of 16Ω and a frequency response of 20Hz-20,000Hz. They will go on sale later this month in Japan for $12.

JVC to launch wooden ear buds

JVC HP-FX500 Victor ear buds made of woodJVC has some new ear buds set to launch sometime early in February that employ a little more natural materials than most with the housing made out of real wood. Birch wood, to be exact, was the material of choice for the designers of these $130+ ear buds. After all, real wood wood works well to encase larger speakers so why not use it for really tiny ones too?

The HP-FX500 ear buds don’t skimp on performance either, according to JVC. The buds use hybrid drivers, a damping gel inside to reduce jittering and help with noise cancellation, and they have a sound range from 8Hz up to 25kHz. Also, like most ear buds, they come packaged with a carrying case and multiple sized rubber tips to fit different sized ears.
