It beats a plain old one color DSi and yours will look unique. Until someone steals it from you because they also think it looks nice. But until then, by all means enjoy it.

Nintendo announces new colors and Wii fit Plus launch date

Posted in Nintendo by Shane McGlaun on September 1st, 2009

wiiblackThat black Nintendo Wii console that popped up not so long ago looked pretty cool, the problem was the console never made it to America for those tired of the white version we can get. Nintendo President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime announced at a conference that we will at least be getting some new color accessories for the Wii and new DSi colors.

A black Wii Remote, Wii Motion Plus, and Nunchuck will be coming, alas the black Wii itself will not be offered it seems. Wii Fit Plus has a new launch date and it will be coming on October 4 at $99 with the balance board or $19.99 of the software only.

XCM Eye-Candy Crystal Clear Shell For The DSiThe XCM Eye-Candy Crystal Clear DSi shell aims to give those who look at your Dsi a lesson in internal Nintendo anatomy. It will keep your portable handheld safe from nicks and scratches, while everything underneath is protected

The kit offers a full DSi replacement case, buttons and even a screwdriver so you can disassemble and re-assemble your DSi. Which isn’t something the faint of heart should attempt. And those who worry about voiding their warranty should not bother. But if you like to see the guts of your gadgets, go for it.

Black Nintendo Wii and red DSi coming this summerThe black Wii and red DSi are coming from Nintendo Japan, not Colorware. The black Wii (aka “KURO Wii”) has been rumored for over two years now. It’s nice to finally have some color options for both the Wii and DSi.

The black Wii with black Wiimote, nunchuck, and classic controller will hit Japan on August 1st for ¥25,000 and the ¥18,900 red DSi on July 11th.

Colorware now painting Nintendo’s DSi

Colorware now painting Nintendo's DSiThe folks at Colorware are at it again. They just can’t stand plain boring looking devices, when they can instead look like the abomination above. You too can have a DSi looks like a child’s toy, for only can be $374.

Or, you can send in your own DSi and get it returned to you for just $174. It’s like dressing it up in a clown costume if you ask me. Do you love your DSi or hate it?

Nyko Zoom Case for Nintendo DSi

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on June 1st, 2009

Nyko Zoom Case for Nintendo DSiAs you can see from the above pic, the Nyko Zoom Case for the DSi makes sure that you will never call it a portable again. Supposedly, it will add 8x zoom to the built-in 640 x 460 camera. Which is nice, I guess. So long as you don’t want to put it in your pocket.

C’mon, who’s trying to take good pictures with their DSi? Apparently you can remove the lens from the Zoom Case, thereby castrating your DSi just as it has hit puberty and discovered it’s first erection. We don’t have any pricing or release date information just yet, but we’ll pass it along when we do.

It even provides enough space to store another game cartridge on the back with an SD memory card. It’s currently available in Japan, but if you have a severe case of sweaty palm you could always import one.

Japan getting Wii video service, DSi connectivity May 1stIt’s been pretty quiet on the whole Wii video in Japan front, but finally there’s some news. Japanese Wii users will soon be able to try it out for themselves. The service is ready to launch in Japan on May 1st.

It’s being called the “Wii no Ma Channel,” and features advertising from Denstu, both free and paid content. What really caught our eye though, is word that a free DSi app will be launching at the same time. The app will allow you to download video from the Wii to your DS, and do other stuff like download coupons from advertisers, which can be scanned directly from the screen.

Possible Nintendo DSi price and release datePeople really really love the Mushroom Kingdom. In the first week alone in the US, the big N managed to sell a whooping 435,00 DSi handhelds. Here’s something more amazing. In the month of March Nintendo systems accounted for just under 60 percent of all video game hardware sold in America.

This during a 17 percent drop in Wii sales during the same month. The news definitely gives Mario and Yoshi something to get excited about.

Limited edition Gyakuten Kenji Nintendo DSiFans of Ace Attorney will be happy to know that Capcom is releasing a new game based on the famous series at the end of this month. Capcom is all set to release a limited edition DSi branded with Taihokun, the Police Mascot designed by Gumshoe (a Character in the game) and a special package including the new opus of the Ace Attorney series.

It may not be as cool as the GTA: Chinatown Wars Ds Lite, but it’s cooler than the Kingdom Hearts DSi. It’s nice to see so much variety in Nintendo’s handheld lately.

DSi architect reveals unreleased Nintendo handhelds

Almost was...Today at GDC09, Masato Kuwahara, project leader on the development of the Nintendo DSi, gave people a first-ever glimpse at two Game Boy spin-offs that never were. The first a is hefty predecessor to the Game Boy Advance; the second a touch-screen GBA SP.

Kuwahara says that the unnamed Game Boy Color successor was in development in 1995/96 and based on a 32-bit ARM RISC processor. The second, more recent R&D project was essentially a Game Boy Advance SP with a touch-screen over its flip-up display. The guts of the unit were actually from a Game Boy Color. It “was not well received” by Nintendo management.

Nintendo plans “DSi Enhanced” games

Nintendo planning its own Dsi App Store?According to Masato Kuwahara, project leader of the Nintendo DSi Hardware group, the big N is planning “Nintendo DSi enhanced game cards,” that offer DSi hardware-specific game features. The games would still be playable on both the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DSi, but would have special features that can only be accessed on the DSi.

Kuwahara gave an example of using these features to create textures from photographs taken with the DSi camera. So, I’m guessing you can map your face onto Mario or a Pokemon if you want.

DSi to get Virtual Console for Game Boy games?

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on March 24th, 2009

Nintendo planning its own Dsi App Store? The Wii has a Virtual Console that lets you download games from the NES, SNES, etc. But there are no Game Boy games. That could be because they were saving them for the Nintendo DSi.

A rumour on game site Kombo seems to confirm that thinking. Apparently at a recent event for Club Nintendo members, it was announced that the DSi would be getting its own Virtual Console. Where you could buy Game Boy & Game Boy Advance titles. The games would be saved to an SD card and would at first be limited to first-party Nintendo titles.
