Control this Nintendo game with your face

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2010

The Nintendo Wii has exercised our bodies and now it aims to work out those facial muscles as well with this game that requires you to use your face to control it. The DSi Ware game called “Kao Glider” (Face Glider in English) allows you to control a hang glider with just your face.

As it flies around the skies, the camera captures your facial expressions and translates them into a gaming movement (up, down and around). It might just make your face sore and tone it up so that these games replace plastic surgery one day.

Puppet Pouch puts roadkill on your DS / DSi

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on April 29th, 2010

From CTA Digital, the Puppet Pouch is a furry case for your Nintendo handheld, with a felt interior and elastic straps to keep your Nintendo nice and warm. Like Luke in a Tauntaun. But not as neat.

There’s also a zipper compartment for storing games and accessories and if you must, it also acts as a puppet. So feel free to shove your hand up it’s butt and put on a show.

We told you back in March about how McDonald’s was going to start training their employees using the Nintendo DS. It’s an interesting idea. And if you are wondering just how it works, we have a video after the jump.

The device being used is the Nintendo DSi, one that features the familiar golden arches. The training is like playing Cooking Mama, but for your fast food corporate masters.

Nintendo 3DS Additional Details

Nintendo DSi 3DS announcementNintendo Japan announced that they will be unveiling a new 3D version of the Nintendo DS at E3 2010 in June, called the Nintendo 3DS. We’ve found some more details in addition to it being a glasses-free 3D device and backwards-compatible with your DS DSi games.

These are rumors mind you and we probably won’t know for sure until the unveiling in June. There’s talk that the 3DS could have a number of additional features giving new dimensions to the gaming possibilities on the device. These include an accelerometer allowing it to sense tilting and motion, a higher-resolution LCD screen from Sharp, and possibly both the top and bottom displays working together as a single display.

Nintendo DSi XL is also an ebook reader

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on February 25th, 2010

As if we needed yet another ebook reader on the market. Well, the DSi XL’s larger display could be good for reading some classics. Nintendo knows that there’s money in the ebook market so they will be offering a downloadable package of ebooks called 100 classic books.

It will hit Wii channels on June 14th for $20. Then you can take a break from gaming to read some actual literature. Maybe some Mark Twain or Dickens. Assuming that they offer anything of that quality anyway.

Nintendo DSi XL hitting the US on March 28th, $190

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on February 24th, 2010

Nintendo has just announced that its new DSi XL (The DSi LL in Japan) will be hitting North America on March 28th for $190. You get a few extra mm of thickness and a much larger screen with two 4.2-inch LCDs.

At launch it will be available in Burgundy and Bronze, preloaded with two DSiWare Brain Age games, Photo Clock, Flipnote Studio and the DSi Browser. Those in Europe will be getting the XL on March 5th. What do you think? Are you getting one?

Next Nintendo DSi will have an HD screen, maybe 720p

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on January 6th, 2010

Satoru Iwata recently announced that the next DS will have a motion sensor, but that isn’t all. He also told Asahi that it will have a higher-resolution screen. An HD screen.

The next DS, after the DSi XL, will feature a 1024 x 768 screen, which close to 720p. Aside from that, Iwata also confirmed that Nintendo is in talks with several networks for connected DS consoles. Obviously they want to compete with iPhone games. Our guess is that an app store will also accompany these upgrades.
