Nintendo DS Lite charging dock

Charging dock for the Nintendo DS LiteFor some reason it just seems nicer to me when I have some type of cradle, dock or stand to charge my gadgets with instead of just a cord and naturally we were excited to see this charging stand for the Nintendo DS Lite. Sure the docks take up more room on my desk and are difficult to take along when you travel, but with them each items has their own neat and special place.

This stand looks to take up a little less space then it could, holding the DS upright on its side instead of flat. It comes in colors of black or white to match the black and white DS’s, and is expected to be available from PlayAsia sometime yet this month for just under $17 USD.

iHome lampEverywhere you look the proof of how successful the Apple iPod is abounds. It seems like everything is getting its own docking slot for an iPod. We have iPod clocks, iPod toilets, iPod stereos and the list goes on. 1000 years from now when researchers look back on this decade they will think we all needed help getting a woody and everyone needed a place to dock their iPod.

Naturally a new iPod docking device has turned up, this time in the form of a lamp. A company called Checkolite has a new iPod compatible, docking lamp for your desk. There are three lamp models that are available in black or white colors.

JVC dual iPod dock, clock radio

Posted in CES 2008, Clocks, Dock, JVC, iPod Accessories by Darrin Olson on January 8th, 2008

JVC NX-PN7 dual ipod dockWith so many iPod accessories on the market today it’s tough to make one stand out from the others, especially with clock radio docks. JVC is making an attempt to stand out this year and unveiling this clock radio at the Consumer Electronics Show which that docks not just one but two iPods, making it twice as good, right?

The JVC NX-PN7 dock features a clock and timer and we’re making an assumption that it has an alarm that will play music from the iPod, but JVC did not mention that specifically. It would also be nice if this clock radio was a dual alarm that would play a different iPod with the different alarm, but unfortunately there was no mention of that either.

The Lars & Ivan Hybrid iPod Dock

Whoever Lars and Ivan are, one thing is clear. Well, two things. They know design and they sound like a swedish/Russian adventure movie duo. This PA-40Ti Hybrid iPod Dock is a true work of art, resembling something like a techno hammerhead shark or manta ray from some far off future. It looks as if it may even eat the iPod.(In a cool way) They even left the tubes exposed so you can see them.

They’ve skipped the built-in speakers entirely and instead focus on giving you 40 watts of stereo amplification that can power your speakers.

Lego shaped iPod dock with speakersYou want strange, we’ve got strange. Check this iPod dock out that is being offered by a Korean company called 10×10. For a low price (how does about $16 sound to you?) you can import a docking station for your iPod player that looks like a Lego brick.

Whether 10×10 got the license to manufacture an Apple accessory that uses another company’s trademark is up for grabs but if you still have fond recollections of your childhood toys and need a more colorful dock for your ‘pod, now you can stop your search. Measuring 6 cm x 1.5 cm x 2.5 cm, the dock comes in red, yellow and blue and features two speakers built right in. Just don’t get it lost amongst your real Lego bricks.
