It was capable of outputting video in 1080 and sending X-Fi quality sound to other wireless receivers around your house. We never heard anything official about it since. Now they’ve quietly released a fresh one in the Cambridge Soundworks line called MovieWorks HD. It appears to be the exact same device.

It does the usual, outputting iPod video and audio via HDMI onto your TV or sound system. According to Creative, this is the only one with it’s Xtreme Fidelity, X-Fi Crystallize and X-Fi CMSS-3D technology.

iBoo iPod dock moonlights as Pac-Man villainiPod docks come in all shapes and sizes, but when is the last time you saw one that looks like it’s ready to eat Pac-Man? Looks like these ghosts are only available in 3 colors, so one is missing. Probably eaten by Pac-Man himself.

The dock features speakers in it’s eyes and a subwoofer underneath. It will cost you a staggering $90 for having such few features. It doesn’t move, won’t turn blue and white when you eat a power pellet, there aren’t even four of them. And where’s Pac-Man himself?

JVC’s new boomboxes with touch control, iPod integration

JVC’s new boomboxes with touch control, iPod integrationJVC was feeling nostalgic, so it has upgraded that most classic of urban audio fixtures, the boombox. Make no mistake, this ain’t your grandaddy’s boombox. This is a boombox for the 21st century. How do I know this? Because it boasts an iPod dock and touchscreen of course.

Even the way that you wake the device from standby mode is futuristic. You wake it up from standby mode by waving a hand in front of the system, which illuminates all of the controls and the LED display. That’s not all, there’s a bunch of gestures and motions you can apply to the touchscreen to do stuff like control the sound.

Jewelbox iPod/iPhone speaker dock from VestalifeThe Jewelbox is the second new Ladybug-inspired product from Vestalife. The other is the Firefly. The only differences in this one are the shape and the absence of a built-in subwoofer. The red is a bit more subtle on this one.

No price info or word on availability yet, we will likely know more next week at MacWorld and CES. I’m liking this one over the Firefly. If there’s one thing that Vestalife knows, it’s Ladybug speaker docks.

It’s far more curvy, looking less techie and more organic. With the Firefly, you have a more naturally elegant iPod/iPhone dock. The Firefly is iPhone compatible, unlike the LadyBug, and has a built-in subwoofer. Features after the jump.

Fusion CA-IP500 Car Stereo eats your iPodCar stereos that are also iPod-friendly are nothing new. Thing is, we’re mostly talking about a dock, with your iPod sitting in front for thieves to spot. The CA-IP500 from Fusion Electronics is different. The face flips open so you can insert your iPod like you would a Cassette tape.

The device will work with the iPod Touch Gen1 & 2, the iPod Classic Gen5, 6 & 7 and the iPod Nano Gen2,3 & 4. Once in it’s slot, you control the iPod via joystick and touch wheel, just like on the iPod. You’ll also get a dot matrix OLED display, SRS Wos sound shaping, AM/FM tuner, 7-band equalizer, security code, aux-in port and of course it will charge your player while it’s inside. It will cost you $349, so while it isn’t cheap, it may help you avoid a broken window and a missing iPod.

iDesign SongView iPod alarm clockThere’s no shortage of iPod alarm clocks on the market, but every now and then you see one that stands out. Take the iDesign SongView for instance. DIY iPhone retro rotary dock

DIY iPhone retro rotary dockHow cool would it be to dock your iPhone in a rotary telephone while running this app. This hack turns your old rotary phone into a cool iPhone docking station. It’s sure to sound great since it has 16 Watts of speaker power hidden in the device.

It sports one speaker behind the dial on the front of the phone and two speakers in the handset itself. The IR sensor and controls are on the side of the phone and the docking port is hidden under the receiver when the hand set is off. This is a pretty awesome mod if you have a 1940′s phone laying around. Video below.

DLO ships HomeDock HD Pro upscaling iPod dockMy god, it’s full of stars ports! It also makes for one fancy-ass iPod dock. The HomeDock HD Pro was unveiled at CEDIA earlier this year and it has now made its way off the production line and began shipping. This upscaling iPod dock takes your stored media and sends it out via HDMI in 720p / 1080i. It even has an RS-232 control port. It remains to be seen if this dock can really make HD video out of your iPod movies, but at $399 it had better.

Marantz IS301 wireless iPod dock

Marantz IS301 wireless iPod dockWireless iPod docks are not new, but the trend kind of died out leaving us with many tethered versions. Marantz has one of their own to offer with the IS301, a Lucullan wireless iPod dock that transmits both audio and video and includes a receiver with ports for your home theater. Almost every dock-connecting iPod will work and it also features Bluetooth 2.1 for BT-enabled devices. It should hit Japan in January for about $277. Hopefully the US soon after.
