Moshimy iPhone dock is cool

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on October 7th, 2009

ipoddockconceptYou know most iPod docks tend to look the same. You can pretty much count on them being boxy and black no matter what the brand is. Sure, you can find some in other colors but the majority are rather bland looking. A cool design concept for an iPod dock called Moshimy has been unveiled that looks cool.

The dock is aimed at the iPod or iPhone user and was designed by Michael Young for Native Union. The device has a brushed aluminum cover and an olive green body. The dock slides in and out of the base of the device for a sleeker profile when not in use.

What will the next iPhone dock be? A Gamecube controller? A dual-shock dock? We have no idea, but we salute you Jay. You went where no geek had gone before.

sendstation-sbOne of the things that I never liked about my iPod and the iPhone was that you always had to carry that Apple charge and sync cable with you. I would like to be able to take a plain USB cable with me that would allow me to charge several of my gadgets with one cable.

A new device called the PocketDock from SendStation has been announced that allows you to charge with a normal mini USB cable and connect the iPod to your home stereo. The device plugs into the charge port of your iPod and offers a 3.5mm output and a mini USB plug.

Nuts and Bolts iPhone stand

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on August 23rd, 2009

Nuts and Bolts iPhone standWe’ve seen our share of custom iPhone docks, but this one takes a minimalist engineering approach. The Nuts and Bolts dock is built from… Well, nuts and a large bolt. The connector is attached to a piece of perspex which holds the iPhone in place.

It was created by one Frederick P Weller and we have to reluctantly admit that we like his approach. Very machine age and industrial looking. And obviously easy to make should you want to try your hand at it. Assuming you have the nuts to pull it off. Oh and the long bolt.

Wii Ultimate Power Station

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on August 11th, 2009

We can’t decide is this is neat or completely stupid. The Wii Ultimate Power Station is a Wii and Wiimote dock that aims to keep everything organized and protect your console. It cools your Wii and has some extra outputs, will charge two Wiimotes and even hold the nunchuks. There’s even a clock.

But it seems like overkill and takes your thin console and makes it all beefed up and fat. We aren’t sure if there’s really a need for this. Or if it will even fit in the spots that our Wiis occupy. This one leaves us feeling kinda weird. What do you guys think?
