DS Lite discontinued at GameStop

Posted in Nintendo DS by Reuben Drake on April 22nd, 2011

Out with the old, in with the new. An internal GameStop memo has surfaced announcing the discontinuation of Nintendo’s DS Lite. With the 3DS now available, the old DS Lite is being put out to pasture. The memo tells employees to remove displays of Crimson, Black, and Metallic Rose models, once the stock is gone.

It is a five-year-old system. There’s no official word from Nintendo yet, but we imagine that will be coming soon. If you want one, you better grab one while you can.

The iPod Classic will not be discontinued after all

Posted in iPod by Conner Flynn on March 23rd, 2011

It had been thought that the iPod Classic would be discontinued. It was introduced nearly ten years ago after all. Last September Apple introduced new iPod models for every line except the iPod classic, so people just assumed it was going to be ditched. The iPod classic is still available, but has not been updated since September of 2009, again fueling speculation.

Well, when you want answers it is best to go straight to the source. So someone emailed Apple CEO Steve Jobs back in September after the device failed to receive an update. Steve responded, telling them that the company has “no plans” to discontinue the iPod classic. You can all rest easy now.

Bad news for some Apple fans. Apple has discontinued their Compact Wired Keyboard. The part number for the keyboard is MB869LL/A and it has been removed from Apple’s store. However, you can still purchase the Apple Compact Wired Keyboard on Amazon for $49.99 if you really want one.

This keyboard features a compact design of the Apple Wireless Keyboard along with a few USB 2.0 ports. The wired numberpad version is still available.

Sony Rolly discontinued

Posted in Sony by Conner Flynn on May 6th, 2009

Sony Rolly gets Bluetooth, more memoryWe wish we could say that this came as a surprise, but nope, we kinda figured that the little Rolly was on The way out. The Sony Rolly has been discontinued in the U.S. The good news is if you are located near a SonyStyle store, go check it out to see if they have them in stock. Thy are having a fire sale with a price of $99. That’s $300 off the original price.

Again, this is no big surprise. The Rolly was a $400 dancing egg. You do the math. But we can’t help wondering what Sony will dream up next to take its place. Maybe a little dancing and hopping cube. Think Rubik’s cube meets Disco.
