Samsung reveals four new digital cameras

Samsung took the wraps today off several new digital cameras for the latter half of 2008. These include the new  SL310w, SL201, TL9 and TL34HD, all available in September and priced around $230, $170, $280 and $330, respectively.

Leading the pack is the TL34HD, coming in at 14.7-megapixels and boasting a Schneider lens yielding a 28mm wide-angle focal length with 3.6x optical zoom. The TL9 does 10-megapixels, the SL310W 13.6-megapixels and the SL201 10-megapixels. Full details of all four are found after the jump.

Kodak is debuting a new compact M-Series digital camera which offers image stabilization and enhanced picture taking automation among its features. It is called the Kodak EASYSHARE M1093 IS Digital Camera and you’ll find it pricing around $200.

The Kodak EASYSHARE M1093 IS Digital Camera is a 10-megapixel shooter sporting a KODAK RETINAR All-Glass Aspheric Lens, 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. It offers as one of its most prevlant features Kodak’s Smart Capture technology, which the company says “instantly adjusts the camera settings to help ensure brilliant pictures in virtually any environment.”

Kodak has announced the introduction of a new 10-megapixel, “ultra zoom” digital camera to its Z-Series line up. The new Kodak EASYSHARE Z1015 IS Digital Camera will price at around $350.

The Kodak EASYSHARE Z1015 IS Digital Camera offers, among its key technologies, a 15X – SCHNEIDER- KREUZNACH VARIOGON Optical Zoom Lens with image stabilization, automatic adjustment of camera settings based upon a scene and an ISO setting of up to 6,400.

Nikon debuts flashy new D-SLR camera

Nikon yesterday unveiled a new digital SLR camera targeted towards professional which delivers a little more bang in a smaller form factor. The new Nikon D700 is priced at around $3,000 for the body only.

The Nikon D700 is equipped with a 12.1-effective megapixel Nikon FX-format sensor that measures 23.9 x 36mm, which Nikon says is nearly identical to the size of 35mm film. This camera, which builds upon the D3, incorporates as well a special Nikon image processing system, 51-point auto focus system with special tracking and two shooting modes for framing photos using the camera’s three-inch LCD monitor.

D-Link releases new network security cameras

D-Link DCS-900 seriesD-Link announced today two new pretty inexpensive network cameras for remote monitoring of various locations or creatures. These new models are the DCS-920 and DCS-910, priced at around $120 and $100, respectively.

The new DCS-920 and DCS-910 join D-Link’s line of SecuriCam digital security cameras. The DCS-920 is 802.11g enabled, allowing wireless installation as well as wired. The DCS-910 is a wired version only, requiring a nearby Ethernet port for use.

Oregon Scientific preps new action cameras

Ricoh today unveiled for the United Kingdom market a new water and dust resistant digital camera which is also shock resistant. It is called the G600 and there’s no word on U.S. pricing or availability as of yet.

The Ricoh G600 10-megapixel outdoor focused model with a 5x optical wide-angle zoom lens (equivalent to 28-140 mm for a 35 mm camera). It is reportedly able to withstand falls up to 1.5 meters and will easily let you take photos in the rain. The backside includes a 2.7-inch display with ambient light sensor.

New Panasonic digital camera does Wi-Fi

Panasonic is bringing a new wireless digital camera to the ranks of its TZ-family. This model will be known as the LUMIX DMC-TZ50 and it will price at around $450.

The LUMIX DMC-TZ50 from Panasonic is a 9.1-megapixel shooter with a 28mm wide-angle lens and 10x optical zoom. It can be used to wirelessly connect to a hotspot and upload the photos to Google’s Picasa Web Albums either one at a time or multiple photos at a time. Panasonic is trying to push using a T-Mobile HotSpot for this feature, offering a year of free wireless usage from T-Mobile.

Pentax announces new digital camera as crickets chirp

Pentax Optio V20Pentax decided to wait until the quiet of this afternoon to unveil its latest point and shoot digital camera. This new model is called the Pentax Optio V20 and it prices at around $280.

The Pentax Optio V20 is your typical, compact eight megapixel shooter. It offers up a 5x zoom lens, 3-inch LCD monitor and 512MB of internal memory. Pentax said it will be available in May.

General Imaging to pimp GE E1235 on HSN

GE E1235We reported back in January that General Imaging, using the GE brand, was planning to offer a new crop of digital cameras at retail this year. It is now kicking off one of those shortly – the GE E1235 – by making the camera’s world debut via television retailer HSN.

The GE E1235, which will debut on March 14, will run you around $200. It is a 12-megapixel shooter with a 2.7-inch LCD screen, 3X zoom and ISO 3200 sensitivity. Available body colors are “deep red” or silver and General Imaging says this is one of the first cameras ever with blink detection, for warning you when someone’s eyes were closed, and smile detection, which works by tripping the shutter automatically when the subject smiles.

Olympus E-420Olympus added today a new digital SLR it says is currently the world’s smallest and lightest. It is called the E-420 and pricing is at around $600 with an included ED 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens.

The E-420 from Olympus is a pretty lightweight 10-megapixel digital shooter. It sports a 2.7-inch display which works with a number of technologies, such as on-screen autofocus and face detection, to present more clearly what your photo will hopefully look like. Measurements wise, the E-420 is 5.1 inches by 3.6 inches by 2.1 inches.
