Sony S Series Notebooks Get Core i5 And i7 Processors

Sony has updated its Vaio S Series notebooks with Intel’s latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors, for a performance boost. It now also comes with an optional battery which Sony says will give you up to 15 hours of battery life. If true, that is pretty sweet.

The Sony Vaio S Series features a 13.3 inch display, and your choice of two Intel Core i5 processor and one Intel Core i7 processor, plus 4GB of RAM standard with the option to upgrade to 8GB. There’s also your choice of hard drives from 320GB up to 750GB or Solid State Drives from 256GB up to 1TB (with 2 x 512GB).

The Digital Storm xm15 notebook is a 15-inch notebook that will ship in various hardware configurations. The base model features a 2.4GHz Core i5 processor, a 1366 x 768 resolution display and NVIDIA’s 1GB 425M discrete graphics chipset. Or you could go all out and add a 2.67GHz Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 1920 x 1080 resolution LCD display. It’s your call.

All configurations make use of NVIDIA’s Optimus system for automatic switching between the discrete GPU and integrated graphics processor. Some other specs include HDMI and VGA outputs, optical audio ports, USB 3.0 ports, and eSATA ports.

Acer’s dualscreen laptop with Core i5 CPU?

We’ve been waiting to see more dual screen laptops like this here Onkyo and this guy here, but it’s been dry lately. Now we hear some news that Acer is testing a rig that might be powerful enough to do the trick.

Some pictures from Tech Review purportedly show a 2.67GHz Intel Core i5 processor (likely a Core i5-580M) with dual fifteen-inch multitouch screens, making other dual screen lappies look dated by comparison. According to the source however, this device is “still slow and buggy,” so we likely have a long wait.

New MacBook Pros with Core i5 and i7 Processors

The new MacBook Pros are finally here, and both the 15 and 17-inch models are loaded with Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors along with new display options, but the 13-inch model has just a Core2Duo and the same price. The base MBP 17 drops is now $2,300 while the base MBP 15 is $1800.

All the new models come with 4GB of RAM, expandable to 8GB. The Core i7 processors are options for both the 15 and 17-inch models, which include NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 330M discrete graphics. The 13-inch MBP includes a custom-made NVIDIA 320M GPU.

Dell Studio 1558 Touch with Core i5

Looks like Dell has some brand new laptops in their catalog, the Studio 1558 Touch and a multitouch Studio 17 Touch. No details are available on the Studio 1558, but we know that it will be equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and a 320GB hard drive.

It has a starting price of $999 and of course the price goes up from there depending on the configuration you choose. If you like fingerprints on your laptop screen, stay tuned.

Fujitsu T900 tablet available in the US with Core i5 configuration

For those of you who have been waiting with bated breath for the Fujitsu T900 tablet, you’ll be happy to know that the T900 is now available in the states. You can choose from a 2.53GHz Core i5 or a 2.66GHz Core i7 processor to go with the 2GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive. So you can get the performance you want.

Along with the option of CPUs, you can also get a modular bay with enough space for an extra battery, an optical drive or a second hard drive. Some other specs include a 13.3″ WXGA touchscreen display with LED backlighting and an SSD replacement option.

Dell Studio XPS 8100 Desktop PC, Core i5/i7 powered

Dell just dropped a new desktop PC. The Dell Studio XPS 8100, which is powered by either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. The system is equipped with either a standard ATI 4350 or Radeon HD 5770, a GeForce GT 220, GTS 240 or GTX 260 graphics card, up to 16GB RAM, and up to a 3TB hard drive.

It also has a 19-in-1 card reader, optional DVD writer or Blu-ray drive, THX TruStudio PC sound and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Some other options include a Samsung 2233R2 22-inch monitor and a NVIDIA 3D Vision kit for 3D at home.
