iGo Arctic Laptop Cooling Pad

Posted in Notebooks by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2011

If your laptop is known to overheat, then you better get a laptop cooler, before it melts down. But the problem with coolers is that every laptop gets hot in different places, and not every cooler will work for the same laptop.

The iGo Arctic Laptop Cooling Pad should do the trick. It houses a movable fan so you can make sure the right spot gets cooled, making it more effective. It is powered by a removable USB cable that can be stored inside the cooler itself when not in use, and it features an ergonomic design to make using it more pleasant. You can pre-order it now for $29.99 and it ships out on March 22.

ThermaHelm helmet cools the brain, could save lives

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on January 14th, 2010

Here’s one we hope performs as well as they say. The ThermaHelm helmet could be a life saver for many. It boasts a few lightweight chemical packs built into the helmets lining. One of the packs has water and the other one nitrate. Together, in a sudden reaction, they cause a cooling reaction that can last up to 45 minutes.

That is important because it helps improve the chances of the rider’s survival after a crash, as it stabilizes the temperature of the brain. The ThermaHelm is expected to arrive in July of this year with GPS, a video camera and Bluetooth. We hope this one saves many lives.

Corsair announces H50 liquid cooling system for PCs

corsairh50-sbAs computer processors get faster one of the inevitable side effects of the increase in performance is that the processors run hotter. Many PC enthusiasts already know that to overclock their CPU too much means that they need better cooling and liquid is often the first step taken past air cooling.

Corsair has announced a new high performance liquid cooling system called the H50. The system is completely enclosed so there is no refilling or messing about with coolant near your computer. The device is compatible with both AMD and Intel processors and features a 120mm radiator and a copper plate for the CPU.

Cooler Master HyperZ600 BlackCooler Master may be most well known for its cool computer cases, but it also makes a line of other gear including cooling products and more. As CPUs have increased their performance, the cooling demands have increased. This means cooling products are larger and often much noisier.

Last month I talked a bit about the limited edition Cooler Master Cosmos Black case bundle. Cooler Master has announced that a special, exclusive HyperZ600 CPU cooler will be part of the bundle with the Cosmos Black. The cooler is all black and adds new cooling features in addition to the black color scheme.

Cool yourself with a water-cooled shirt

Cool yourself with a water-cooled shirt
This shirt is cool as far as temperature goes, not cool as far as looks. Unless you’re into a sort of old mattress look. It’s a t-shirt with a water cooling system to keep you from overheating. It’s got an inlet and an outlet on the fifty feet of rubber hose that connect to a pump.

The water circulates and you get to sit in the summer heat without needing air conditioning. It was actually designed to be used by race car drivers. No word on price, but it’s probably pretty expensive. You could probably make your own and actually give it some style. Even the still-suits in Dune had more style then this shirt, plus you could drink your own fluids.
