NEC develops super-fast Analog to HD Video Conversion

NEC has developed a new technology that makes it possible to quickly change low-res analog video to HD video. According to NEC, the existing solutions available require one full month to convert one hour of analog video images into HD images.

This new method is up to 17 times faster than conventional ones. The company’s new image processing technology changes one hour of analog into HD video in only 10 hours. Video material recorded on analog video could be remastered and shown in HD using this solution. Unclear images recorded on non-HD security cameras could also be sharpened this way.

iConvert: VHS to PC ConversioniConvert lets you convert your old VHS cassettes to a digital format. The device is a standalone unit that doesn’t require a PC to use, which is convenient. Just connect the VHS player and then insert an SD card in the iConvert. As the VHS tape plays the data is backed up on to SD card so you can transfer it to your PC later on.

As well as a VHS player, you can also connect other devices like old camcorders. The iConvert will cost you $99.95 and is great if you have a bunch of old video cassette’s you want to converting to a digital.

Neil Young starts electric car conversion companyYou might know him from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. You might know him from his solo work. Hell, most of you own at least one CD with the man’s songs on it. Soon you’ll know him for electric cars.

Turns out he really has a heart of gold. Neil’s started a company called Linc Volt to develop electric car technologies, and he knows a little something about it since he already converted his own ’59 Lincoln. The subject of an upcoming documentary. According to Young, he’s mostly focused on developing the technology. Linc Volt will provide instructions and it will also be performing the actual conversions. Pretty nice when famous people with some power set out to innovate.
