The white iPhone is always making drama. We have followed it’s twisted and sorted saga for awhile now and we thought it would stop now that the device is available. But no. The latest drama surrounding the white iPhone 4 is in regards to it’s thickness.

Consumer Reports is now disputing claims that the white iPhone 4 is thicker than its black counterpart. Using calipers, they claimed both color iPhones were about 0.37 inches. It went so far as to try three cases and said that all three fit just fine.

Verizon iPhone 4 also not recommended by Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports announced that the Verizon iPhone 4 didn’t make their list of recommended phones. The reason is the same as before. It’s the antenna-gate issue once again. The Verizon iPhone 4 like it’s cousin, is also prone to drop calls in certain areas, according to Consumer Reports.

Consumer Reports says: “The Verizon iPhone 4 closely resembles the original AT&T iPhone 4 in many positive respects, including offering great multimedia functionality, a sharp screen, and the best MP3 player we’ve seen on a phone…Unfortunately, it also shares with its sibling the possibility of compromised performance in low-signal conditions when used without a bumper or case.”

Apple deletes mentions of Consumer Reports’ iPhone 4 piece on forums

Consumer Reports stated that it “can’t recommend” the iPhone 4 until the antenna issues are fixed. It’s labs as well as others have verified the issue. Now it looks like Apple is trying to mind-wipe their users of the whole affair.

Apple has apparently deleted threads about the Consumer Reports article from its support forums. Keep in mind, this is nothing new; there’s moderation, plus the company regularly deletes discussion of hardware flaws that it’s not ready to confess to. Plus, Jobs was responsible for deleting R2-D2′s memory of Anakin building 3PO, so the prequels would make sense. Thank God Apple doesn’t own the internet.

Consumer Reports retracts iPhone 4 recommendation

This is not good news for Apple. After initially saying that the iPhone 4′s reception issues were no big deal, Consumer Reports has changed its stance, recognizing that the software fix won’t help matters, and retracting their recommendation. Apparently, they finally got around to testing the device.

And they’ve just discovered the phone’s reception problems, which we have known about since the beginning.
