Here’s a conceptual design that we haven’t seen before. The DYA phone concept has materialized from the future, with some interesting futuristic features. For one thing it’s got rounded bubble-type buttons that are easy to press, without having to look at them.

In back it’s coated with elastic paint that makes it pleasant to touch and reduces the chances that it will be damaged when dropped. Strangest of all, and maybe the coolest feature is the diagonal cut that makes it compact when not in use, but at the same time large enough to be used comfortably when you open it up to make or receive a call.

Sometimes an idea can be so simple that you wonder why you never thought of it yourself. This is one of those ideas. The Book-sensitive Reading Lamp was designed by French designers Jun Yasumoto, Alban Le Henry, Olivier Pigasse and Vincent Vandenbrouck.

You can figure out how to use it just by looking at it. The idea is that the lamp will turn itself off whenever you place a book on it, open to the page where you stopped reading. It will turn on again when you remove the book. This one is so good that it will likely become a reality.

Here’s an interesting concept that makes the iPod dock more practical. The idea is that you can stack as many of the modules as you like, which lets you have multiple speakers, lights, even air purifiers. Usually iPod docks are pretty boring, but this one opens up a whole world of possibilities.

Maybe they could add a messaging screen on the front and it could display your instant messages. Maybe one could be a USB hub, or have a hard drive. The possibilities are endless.

This is sort of a tag-team approach to an intelligent sports camera. It’s dubbed the Chasercam and it consists of two devices. The camera (with base) and the sensor target. Just activate it and the camera turns on it’s base and as well as up and down, seeking the sensor target.

You place one of these on the subject, while the other is attached to the person following the subject. Normally the persn holding the cam has to worry about walking into things or tripping, but with this, it’s a piece of cake.

We’re no stranger to shiny touchscreen phone concepts, but here’s one that we’d really love to see in production. It’s designed by Taiwan’s Tryi Yeh and called the Google-G0. It’s both a touchscreen phone and a slider, with four large navigation buttons for quick access to your email, web browsing and more. The buttons change to fit your needs, depending on what you’re currently doing. Speakers and a camera are on the back.

It’s really slick and sexy. With some interest features. This is the kind of thing that can givethe iPhone a run for it’s money. Apparently the functionality continues when you plug it into the charger. For instance the image of the dock makes it look like it will let you watch TV on your phone, or use your G0 like a remote.

This concept shows us one possible future, where humans will roam the earth riding on transformer-like animals. Fueling your beast is easy. Just let it eat nature’s vegetation and it will also energize the driver.

Project Nomad was created by Jason Battserby, who must be a transformer fan. It’s cat-like design allows it to traverse all kinds of terrain and even climb rocky terrain at fast speeds. So, do you think a big mechanical cat is in your future?

Here’s a crazy concept that celebrities are sure to love. It’s basically an LED flash built-into a clutch purse. When it senses a flash it will send out an even brighter flash to blind the camera. And probably the cameraman too. It prevents the picture from coming out right.

The result is a bright halo around the subject with no facial features identifiable. I’d be real surprised if celebs don’t get this thing mass produced. First the bugs need to be worked out as it hasn’t been perfected yet.

Here’s a design that should help those who have trouble getting around. The design is smart. In fact the Elevating Wheelchair concept is smart enough to go from sitting and standing like a transformer.

The electric-powered wheelchair could also serve as a vehicular concept at some point in the far future, but for now we would be happy to see the disabled using this in the real world. It would give them more mobility and independence.

What do washing the car, watering plants, and wet T-shirt contests have in common? That was a trick question. You probably answered that they all waste water, but only the first two are a waste of water, wet T-shirt contests are understandable. But they all do add up to a large utility bill. That’s why this intelligent hose concept has a consumption meter.

It will measure your consumption and look futuristic doing it. With the Intelligent Hose, you can spray away on your cars, plants and boobies, safe in the knowledge that you will save money.

Batteries? The Mobile Script Phone doesn’t need no stinkin’ batteries. It’s a concept device that features Internet browsing, working on-the-go, games and communications. All the stuff you already enjoy, just better. Plus no batteries.

The device has a few touchscreen displays, one in the standard format, the other is a flexible OLED display that can stiffen when a low voltage charge goes through it, to give you added viewing area.

This isn’t the first phone concept for the blind that we’ve seen, but it’s an interesting one. It’s from designer Zhenwei and it’s called the B-Touch. The idea is to help the blind communicate more effectively in a mobile friendly way with family and friends.

It features a touchscreen display for Braille, thanks to blind touchscreen technology and uses a combination of voice systems and programs to make it fully functional. It even sports other features, like a navigational system, an e-book reader and an object recognizer.

Normally, we buy a computer, use it for maybe two years, sometimes less, and it’s headed for the landfill. A more conscious user might just recycle the parts and use them for something else. An even better idea is this new system that never gets obsolete and so never requires throwing away.

This Jocko Chan designed computer for Dell provides an easy update of better components. Called LOOP, the system is ordered online and delivered directly to your home. All upgrades are available to rent for a limited period of time with an additional charge. The company’s employees would take care of all repair and enhancements. The components which are working in good condition are re-used whereas all other components are taken back for recycling.

The folks over at Yanko Design came across this mysterious miniature vehicle named ROCK. Sure, it looks like Darth Helmet’s head on wheels. Very little is known about the device except the obvious: It is dark and ominous and possibly how cats will take over the world.

It was created by designer Alberico J. Camacho and sports a tiny Nissan logo. That’s Really all we know, but it seems to be some kind of music player, like a more robust Sony Rolly. The ROCK could also be a scale model prototype for a concept car that Camacho worked up for Nissan.

The Trou Hologram cellphone has no screen, instead relying on 3D holograms projected onto the vacant area to display what you are looking at. Small projectors are lined up on the inner surface in order to bring the most lifelike images to life before your eyes.

They will have to figure out how to solve the power issues, since projectors suck a lot of energy. But one day we may just have this device in our hands fully working. That day is a long way away, but if we can envision it, we can eventually do it.

The Laser Oven concept by Electrolux may be the future of cooking. It will cook your food in no time at all by using three laser beams that pew pew pew your dinner. The Electrolux Laser Oven has a sleek, compact design that makes it look futuristic too.

A single laser can’t cook anything, but crossing the lasers can cook the food easily. In Ghostbusters crossing the streams are bad, here it’s a good thing. It will allow you to choose the desired texture of your food, and even scans it before cooking. Forget timers and thermometers, the Laser Oven stops cooking when the food has reached the texture that you want.
