Evel Knievel kid's ChopperWatch in amazement as your kids say, “Who?” And, “Dad, I don’t get it. Why is this cool?” Kids today may not know who Evel Knievel is, but that isn’t stopping the manufacturer of this kid’s chopper.

It’s the limited-edition replica of the street cruiser ridden by Robert Craig “Evel” Knievel. And if you didn’t know, he set the world record by jumping over 19 cars and a bunch of other stuff, when he wasn’t laying in the hospital moaning.

A bike that grows with your child

A bike that grows with your childWe’ve seen sneakers that are designed to grow with your child, so why apply that concept to your kid’s bike? It’s a great idea, because kids outgrow everything, forcing you the parent to shell out more money for something else they can outgrow.

Why not have one bike that can grow with your kid? That’s the idea behind this conceptual bike that designers at Kilo Design are working on. The bike expands along the sizes needed for kids aged 6 to 12. That’s six years of never having to replace a bike.

INCHworm shoe grows with your feet

INCHworm shoe grows with your feetIt’s a common parental problem. Your kid asking for a new pair of shoes every few months, because he has outgrown the old ones. Expensive too. You could take a cue from China and their women, and force your child’s feet to remain small forever by cramming them into a tiny shoe, but that only gets child services involved.

These shoes grow with the growing foot size of your child. Dubbed the INCHworm, they use iFit technology, with accordion-like material on the toe. With the press of a button it can be pulled out to increase the length of the shoe in ½ size increments up to 3 full sizes. Pretty sweet huh? It’s designed tough so all those days at the playground won’t destroy them.

Kickbee lets unborn children Twitter

Kickbee lets unborn children TwitterUnborn children can now communicate with the outside world. Corey Menscher wanted to experience the kicks, movements and other utero activities of his unborn child, so he developed the Kickbee, a strapped-on set of piezo sensors that monitor the baby and send wireless updates about it to Twitter.

Just wrap a stretchy band around your wife, velcro it in place, and the sensors will react to movement. It also sports an Arduino to make sense of the inputs and wirelessly transmit them, via Bluetooth, to a nearby MacBook Pro; it’s the Pro that actually sends out the Twitter updates, not a magic baby.

Samsonite’s Tot Pod concept

Samsonite’s Tot Pod concept
Forget the fact that this thing looks like it’s designed to comfortably seat your helpless child and then snap it’s jaws shut while it digests your little tot, it’s actually designed with the safety of your child in mind. Designer, Aldo Barreto, a student from Ontario Canada, designed this modern baby car seat for a competition held by Samsonite.

He wanted to design a child transportation vessel that is more convenient. The ‘Tot Pod’ has a built-in child restraint system, carrying handle and even a storage compartment in the back, and drop down wheels to convert it from a car seat to a stroller. When not in use, it’s just an ominous looking clam shell.

Tag & release your toddler with a tracking system

Tag & release your toddler with tracking system
The In-Reach Child Tracking System will let you tag and release your rugrat into the yard. One part of the device is attached to your kid and tracks his or her proximity to a 10- to 300-foot boundary that the parent has determined. The other part of the device is carried by the parent. This shows where the child is at all times. The child unit has a panic button (Prepare to be summoned for every little thing thanks to this aspect.). It will cost you $44.95.

Despite the fact that it seems like the Panic button could be abused by the child, this gadget should give you some peace of mind. I imagine this would also be good for caretakers who care for mentally handicapped people or the elderly.
