WildCharge universal adapter kits now available

wildcharge-sbI think that most of us who often forget to plug our mobile phones in to charge could remember to sit the phone on a pad to charge if that was all we needed to do. A company called WildCharge has a system that can make that a reality.

The company announced that it now has a universal wire free mobile charge adapter kits available. Kits to fit mini-USB, Nokia, and Sony Ericsson phones are available. The universal chargers plug into the charge ports on the compatible devices and then the devices can be placed on the charge pad to be powered.

You can use the TEAC HD-1 with your iTunes collection via its iTunes Tagging capability. Some other features include a remote control, dual alarm clock with snooze button, five equalizer presets, and an iPod/iPhone charger. You can purchase the Teac HD-1 HD Radio at select Costco stores around the US for $129.99 each.

Sony shows off fuel cell charger and speaker prototypesSony showed off some fuel cell prototypes at the Fuel Cell Expo 2009 in Tokyo. Pictured are some fuel cell-powered speakers and a charger that create power with only pure water as a byproduct.

The silver speakers can play music and power a mobile device, while that thing that resembles a coffee maker is a completely wireless speaker system that is capable of running for months with its container of ethanol. The blue thing will charge up anything with a USB port.

2012: Target date for universal cellphone chargerWe knew there must have been some significance to the year 2012 other than the Mayan calendar ending. The GSM Association has announced that it and 17 of it’s partner companies are working a universal cellphone charger solution. They think they will have a common format in place by 2012.

Seems like it should meet the deadline no problem since the group’s choice of connector, micro-USB, has already gained acceptance as a pretty common format. They say that the “majority” of new phones sold by 2012 will support what they’re describing as the universal charging solution, which will need to meet strict requirements to be broadly compatible.

The dual-function charger can be used to power your cell phone when you don’t have access to power outlets.

Just realize that the AAA batteries inside are not going to satisfy power hungry phones like the iPhone. It’s more for entry-level handsets. The device comes with adapter cables and two sets of batteries so you can rotate them. It’s great for wireless mice and keyboards and is a good gadget to have around for emergencies.

Sony PS3 controllers get a chargeSony’s PS3 SIXAXIS and Dual Shock 3 controllers being wireless, are going to need a charge after awhile. That’s why Sony has their own AC adapter for both controllers, for almost $30, available starting December 18th. With the AC adapter, you’ll get a few USB ports, allowing you to charge up to two controllers at the same time. We don’t know if this is going to show up outside of Japan or not, but we hope so. It’s better then leaving your PS3 powered up all night.
