Dell’s ultra-thin Adamo laptop gets shown offNot long ago Dell’s Adamo got official at CES today. The laptop was presented oh so briefly in all it’s anorexic glory and then it left the stage without any specs or even a price. So we still don’t know much. Just that it’s seriously thin and represents the new luxury design franchise in Dell’s laptop lineup. We’ll let you know more when we know more.

The touchscreen handset has a 3.1-inch 320 x 480 multitouch display, with a silver center button below and touch sensitivity all along the face. The lower part is for “gestures.” What’s that sliding out? A full QWERTY keyboard in portrait orientation. If you like, you can flip the phone on its side for accelerometer-sensed widescreen.

It’s running Palm’s all-new webOS platform, with TI’s new OMAP CPU. According to Palm, it provides laptop-style power, and powers the phone’s smooth transitions, scrolling and the like. iRobot introduces second generation Looj

Posted in iRobot by Conner Flynn on January 8th, 2009

iRobot introduces second generation LoojOut of all the robots they could have introduced, it had to be the Looj. That gutter cleaning bot that is cool from a practical standpoint, but not so cool as far as robots go.

According to them, it has new features to make it more efficient. It drives easily under gutter straps, propelled by a three-stage auger that dislodges and eliminates all of that nasty dirt and gunk. It sports a new antenna, smart speed, and a battery door that doesn’t need tools to be opened. Yeah, not much to jump up and down about, but hey, gutters will be clean.

WowWee diversifies at CES: Cinemin pico PJ, new Alive Cubs and moreWowWee is smart. They know that in this economy, it’s smart to diversify. We are all used to seeing the company’s latest robotics offerings, but now the company responsible for Tri-Bot is serving up a Cinemin line of micro Projectors.

Another thing of interest is the Spyball spy-cam, a remote controller, WiFi-enabled robotic ball. The company has more too. It doesn’t stop there. Flexicord is a coiled HDMI Cable, always the perfect length

Posted in HDMI by Conner Flynn on December 29th, 2008

Flexicord is a coiled HDMI Cable, always the perfect lengthSometimes solutions are so simple and elegant, you wonder why no one figured it out until now. That’s the case with the Flexicord HDMI cable featuring a patented Memory Cord Technology. It will debut at CES 2009 and help consumers to always have the right cable length to hook up their gadgets.

Pretty novel idea. And simple too. Sometimes coiled cable can be a problem with too much slack, but the company says that it can bend anywhere along its length and hold the angle indefinitely. It’s like those bendy action figures. You know the ones you pose, that stay in whatever position you leave them in.

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on December 28th, 2008

LG to unveil slimmest LED LCD at CES 2009LG is the latest manufacturer to stretch the limits of LCD TVs. LG will unveil the “LH95,” the world’s slimmest LED LCD TV at CES in January in Las Vegas. The LG LH95 is expected to be only 24.8mm thick, which should be good enough to back the manufacturer’s claim. The LH95 will feature a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio screen and come with 240Hz TrueMotion Drive technology.

According to LG, this LED LCD TV will be the 2009 CES Innovation Award winner in the Display category. I’m not sure how much thinner they can go, but this one is pretty darn skinny. Hopefully it lives up to all of the companies boasting.

Mystery swivel handset identified as Compal Tabasco

Mystery swivel handset identified as Compal TabascoIt looks like that mystery Korean handset we spotted awhile back has been identified as a MID from Compal with the strange name of Tabasco. The shot that we saw was taken at Computex 2008 in June.

The non functioning prototype features a rear facing 3.2 megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom and a flash, a front-facing webcam, and it measures about 6.3 x 3.3 x 1.3-inches with a 4.5 or 5-inch screen. The processor, as well as OS and storage capacity are unknown. So there’s still some mystery here. We have no idea if it’s on track for release or just a prototype. We may learn more at CES.

JVC dual iPod dock, clock radio

Posted in CES 2008, Clocks, Dock, JVC, iPod Accessories by Darrin Olson on January 8th, 2008

JVC NX-PN7 dual ipod dockWith so many iPod accessories on the market today it’s tough to make one stand out from the others, especially with clock radio docks. JVC is making an attempt to stand out this year and unveiling this clock radio at the Consumer Electronics Show which that docks not just one but two iPods, making it twice as good, right?

The JVC NX-PN7 dock features a clock and timer and we’re making an assumption that it has an alarm that will play music from the iPod, but JVC did not mention that specifically. It would also be nice if this clock radio was a dual alarm that would play a different iPod with the different alarm, but unfortunately there was no mention of that either.
