Tron lightcycle case mod is awesome

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on May 19th, 2011

Feast your eyes on this Tron case mod. It looks like it could just zip away from your desktop, leaving only a trail of light behind it. Bods Mods has just completed this 40-inch long lightcycle PC and unleashed it on the world. Or the grid. Whatever.

It features an ATX motherboard, liquid cooling, and blue light aplenty. It was created using SketchUp, Google’s 3D modeling app. After that it was a lot of foam shaping and Dremel work. The detail is simply stunning. Bods Mods has entered this case in Cooler Master’s 2011 Case Mod Competition.

Beer Keg PC Case Mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on November 22nd, 2010

This guy is doing it all wrong. We aren’t that impressed when someone takes a beer keg and turns it into a PC case. What this world really needs is the technology to turn old PC cases into full beer kegs. That would help the environment and give us more beer. More beer is always good.

But having said that, Ben Lzicar has turned an empty Anheuser-Busch keg into a PC case and it’s pretty cool. He powder-coated the keg with a beautiful shiny black finish, decked it out with chrome, and loaded it with bright blue LEDs. Of course, there is also a bottle opener.

V8 Engine Computer Case Mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on October 6th, 2010

If you are a car enthusiast and a PC user, then this is the perfect V8 engine/computer case for you. This thing is just awesome looking. This case mod has been created in the form of a traditional V8 engine with dual PC cases and engine components. One DVD drive is fitted into the air intake to complete the effect.

You can almost see it shaking with power. The creator did an amazing job.

Glow In The Dark Tron NES case mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

We love a good console mod around here and this amazing NES console mod by Thretris is a good example. It’s a Tron inspired glow-in-the-dark Nintendo Entertainment System complete with an upgraded stereo sound system and detailing to replicate the Tron look.

The whole thing glows under black light very brightly and charges to then glow without blacklight , but softer. You can actually own this one if you want it, for $250 and it comes with the original power adaptor, RF switch, and controller.

God of War Kratos PC casemod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on February 3rd, 2010

If this case mod’s looks could kill, then all of the gods would be slain with one quick glance. This Kratos God of War case mod means business. It’s easily one of the coolest and most unique that we’ve seen.

We have no idea what’s inside. Anyway with an exterior like that it hardly matters. Kratos just looks like he will start swinging blades immediately and slaying anyone nearby. The innards can be accessed by a hatch on his back. Very awesome.

Morphius robot case mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on December 15th, 2009

Morphius robot case modSupposedly this mod comes from creator Maciel Barreto, but I’m not convinced. Clearly this thing arrived from the future with a mission to kill us all. But if Maciel wants to be an accomplice, that’s on him. He’s not fooling us.

This is basically a battle damaged robot with a PC inside that took months to build. Every detail of MORPHIUS was hand-carved in clay to make a silicone mold. Then the final shell was made from fiberglass and resin. So he claims.

Project Cool Boombox PC case mod

Project Cool Boombox PC case modCheck out this totally funkadelic PC case mod that glows like a toxic night-lite. This one comes from modder JJ-Sky5000 and was created for a Coolermaster contest. The Project ‘Cool’ Boombox PC Case Mod. Cool doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Obviously the mod uses an old boombox from 1990s to great effect. I see some groovin’ dude carrying this thing on his shoulder, moving to the music as he strolls down post-apocalyptic streets in search of nothing more than good times.

The most realistic Wall-E case mod

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on September 16th, 2009

The most realistic Wall-E case modWe’ve seen our share of Wall-E case mods, but this one is so detailed that it looks authentic. The attention to detail is the best that we’ve seen. If Wall-E really existed, this is what he would look like, with just the right amount of dirt and wear.

This one comes courtesy of César S..’s photostream on flickr. It looks as real as a computer generated Pixar robot can be. Awesome stuff. Now he just needs to make a few more characters and he can film his own movie.

Doom 3 PC case mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on August 22nd, 2009

Doom 3 PC case mod Here’s a nasty looking PC case mod. I don’t know whether to admire it or run in fear while I still have my limbs. Apparently it was created by a Russian modder who was inspired by Doom 3. You have to love the detail work, right down to the blood on the chainsaw.

It’s much more than just Doom 3-style yellow paint on the exterior. Inside you’ll find an AMD64 Sempron 2600 + CPU, Geforce 6600GT graphics card and ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2 drive. Not that you can take your eyes off of the chainsaw.

Red Xbox 360 case mod looks hot

Red Xbox 360 case mod looks hotThis suped-up red Xbox 360 looks like a hot rod. There isn’t much info about it, but the bright red case and the two canisters on the side make the console look like it is about to take off. Looks like it has some cooling pipes too, that might separate during takeoff.

The fire engine red color just adds to the cool factor and I almost want to see flames painted on it. Or a fire hose attached. One thing is for sure, it is pretty.

Xbox 360 Hellboy case mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on June 17th, 2009

Xbox 360 Hellboy case modThis Hellboy Xbox 360 case mod is awesome. And very very red. It was made by Frank Gonzales, who has previously created a Gears of War and other case mods. He really outdid himself with this one. It looks as if it has just clawed it’s way free from hell and is ready for some serious gaming.

My first reaction upon seeing this was to wonder where the horns were, but it is absolutely perfect as it is.

Yellow Bulldozer PC case mod

Posted in PCs by Conner Flynn on April 16th, 2009

Yellow Bulldozer PC case modHere’s a cool PC case mod from Russian moder, Megalex, known as the Yellow Bulldozer PC. He must be a fan of construction vehicles. Megalex built the custom case around an Asus P3B-F motherboard, an Intel PIII 700MHz processor, 512MB of Ram, and a 500GB Seagate hard drive.

Looks like parts of it actually move. Pretty awesome. If he can make a few more that are rc controlled, he can use them to demolish things around the house. Or make them fight. Either way, it’s a win.

Some of it’s features include three 2.5-inch LCD screens, a 10-inch LCD on the left side panel and an automatic right side panel door/airlock.

In front there’s a laser-cut acrylic Battlestar Galactica logo mounted to a DVD drive. You can see the disc spinning inside. What, no Viper or Cylon base-star mouse to kill your hand? Check out some videos below.

Mini Colecovision case mod hits ebay

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on August 19th, 2008

Mini Colecovision case mod hits ebayAtari and Nintendo seem to get all the glory when it comes to case mods, but there are those out there with a love of Colecovision as well. Probably those who love to play the Smurf game. This mini ColecoVision does everything the original console did, it’s just smaller. A full 50 square inches smaller and 1 pound lighter to be exact.

In addition to shrinkage, the modder also gave it some upgrades. Like composite, S-Video and RCA audio jacks. It also boasts an “intro skip” button that will let you skip past those annoying loading screens on Coleco games. The console includes a refurbished ColecoVision hand controller, a Donkey Kong game cartridge, a power supply, and a six foot, gold-plated, A/V cable. If you can’t live without this thing, you till have 9 hours. It’s currently bid up to $374.99.

Team Fortress 2 sentry case mod looks deadly

Team Fortress 2 sentry case mod looks deadly
Master modder TiTON’s latest Team Fortress mod recreates a TF2 sentry. Less deadly, but very impressive. It might even be too pretty to use. This life size Valve-inspired mod is simply awesome. This one is impressive enough, but he plans on building a teleporter pad to accompany the set, and also a Windows Vista Sideshow-enabled touchscreen attachment disguised as a Sapper.

Some specs include: EVGA e-7150 / 630i Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU, EVGA GeForce 9600 GT Graphics Card, 4GB Crucial Tracer PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory, Silverstone Strider 650W Modular PSU, Silverstone NT06 Lite CPU cooler w/ 120mm Fan, and 160GB Seagate Momentus Notebook Hard Drive.
