Fully customizable and recyclable iPhone case for the recessionWho has money for a fancy case to protect your iPhone during this recession? You’ve probably tried wrapping it like a mummy in paper towels or loading it up with 2 inches of duct tape, but it just didn’t work. Well, this case offers you a lot of customizing possibilities for only $0.99 or 10 for $8.

You can glue some crystals on it, draw with a sharpie, paint it, whatever you like. It also has other benefits. Normally people want to steal your iPhone, but in this case it just looks like something wrapped in cardboard. Which it is of course.

Cardboard gadgets make everything disposable

Cardboard gadgets make everything disposableWhen you really start to think about the sheer number of gadgets in the world, it’s amazing they aren’t littering the streets and roadways like cold tech corpses. After all, we keep buying them and them throwing them out to buy another.

But we aren’t here to preach. We’re just impressed by this beautiful reminder of our consumerism in the form of sculpted cardboard gadgets. These are works of art really. They are from British designer Kyle Bean and they are really nicely detailed.

Recycled cardboard USB flash drives

Recycled cardboard USB flash drivesIf you’re concerned about the environment, the recycled cardboard USB flash drive is right up your alley. These are basically disposable USB flash drives. As newer, larger capacity drives become cheaper, the older ones typically get tossed aside.

That’s why this is a good idea. No one wants to see a landfill full of old drives. Five of these come together as one large piece. The idea is that when you need one, you just snap one off. And most of the drive can be recycled when you are done with it.

Turn your iPhone into a document scannerThis simple cardboard stand makes capturing document images with your iPhone super easy. Typically if you try to scan a document by holding your phone, what you will get is a blurry image. This is a simple and low-tech solution.

The stand/dock was created by University of Cincinnati DAAP student Kyle A Koch. It holds the phone and the document in the perfect position to get a good picture. Like all good cardboard things, it arrives to you flat packed for just $16. Not bad.

Cardboard table for cutting stuff

Cutting Table No 1My aunt has a table built into a sewing room in her home that is just for cutting fabric and wrapping gifts. I always thought it was a goofy idea to have a table dedicated to such a use. Then, a couple years ago at Christmas I was wrapping a gift for my wife on our kitchen table and deftly hacked one of her new placemats in half while cutting the wrapping paper. Let me warn you guys, that is a big deal to a woman. That is when I saw the brilliance in a table solely for cutting stuff.

Evidently, lots of people see the validity of a table of that sort. If your home does not have a table for the purpose fret not, Birkiland has your fix. The company offers a product it calls Cutting Table No. 1, which is basically a cardboard table specifically made for cutting stuff. The table features three drawers under the top for storing junk.

Pimp your PSP into an arcade machine

Pimp your PSP into an arcade machine
Not a full size arcade machine, of course. Your PSP screen would be really tiny inside of a huge cabinet. This might be the most useless PSP accessory ever, but it’s also one of the coolest. You can turn your PSP into a small retro cardboard arcade machine, straight out of the 80’s.

The cardboard mini game for PSP comes in a pack of two, with authentic graffiti and mall-rat trash. It only costs $12.49. This is a perfect way to relive your youth, but on a smaller scale. Personally I dig the Cosmic Intruders version.
