The Candwich is a sandwich in a can

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on July 11th, 2010

I thought I had seen it all in weird foods. I was wrong. Here is something a bit horrifying and disgusting. The “Candwich” is now on store shelves. Yes, it’s a sandwich in a can. You can get strawberry jelly and peanut butter, grape jelly and BBQ chicken.

If that doesn’t sound disgusting, I don’t know what is. No word on price, but this would be tough to eat even in a disaster situation. Oh and there’s a candy surprise inside.

Wine may soon come in a soda cans
Almost anything drinkable is or has been available in can form. Wine may be next thanks to Swedish designers Jens Andersson and Jonas Forsman who have made their recyclable wine cans slightly resemble a wine bottle.

The prototypes are available for any wine companies that want to take the plunge and enter a bold new mode of distribution. They haven’t had any luck so far. Probably because the elite don’t want others to think that they are drinking some low-class carbonated beverage. How appalling.

Snap Capp: Can on bottom, bottle on top
In our attempt to never ever have flat soda again, humanity has come up with another way to keep your drink carbonated. The Snap Capp is a little less classy then the resealable can. It’s more like the mullet of the beverage world, all business on top where it’s keeping your drink fresh, with a party on the bottom.

It’s cheap, and it keeps your drink fresh with a lid. What more can you want out of life? Fits standard 12 or 16 ounce cans and comes in several colors. A pack of 3 with cost you $10.

Resealable Can: No more flat sodas
You have to drink soda pretty fast so it doesn’t go flat, right? Not anymore. Not everyone can finish the can. It’s either drink the flat beverage or be wasteful. Ukranian inventor Johan De Broyer is a man with a love of carbonated beverages and a dream. He has come up with a neat way to re-seal cans.

His idea opens up new possibilities in advertising too. You pop the top as usual, then when you want to re-seal it, just turn the pop top tab and it completely closes up the can. That wouldn’t mean squat if it were just an enclosure, but Johan claims his invention can create a completely gas-tight and liquid-tight seal. Advertisers should love the fact that they can take advantage of the resealed top.

Cheeseburger in a can the new spam?

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on January 29th, 2008

Cheeseburger in a canWhen char broiling a burger with your tailpipe is just not doing it for you, why not cook up a cheeseburger in a can? This tops my list of bad ideas and has got to be this century’s equivalent to spam.

The entire cheeseburger comes in the can. You just boil the can for a few minutes and pop it open. This comes from a company called Katadyn, a Swiss-based company that primarily deals with mobile water sterilization and desalination equipment. Until now. Now they are focused on strange MREs. They have a powdered wine that when reconstituted has an alcohol content of over 9%, a chocolate mousse, and of course the burger in a can. They all supposedly have a shelf life of 12 months. Gross.
