Alcatel Crystal AApparently the FCC has more information on the upcoming Alcatel Crystal A from TCT Mobile Limited. The Alcatel Crystal A has a somewhat different artistic design on the outside with several crystals thrown in for good measure.

We aren’t sure if they are real precious stones or just faux jobs. The features are pretty basic though. This oddball sports an integrated camera(unknown megapixel count), an integrated FM tuner, audio and video playback, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity and Java support.

RIM launching front facing camera on Blackberries next yearThis remains a rumor until we get something more concrete, but in an informal interview, a RIM executive strongly hinted that the BlackBerry line will be getting a front-facing camera for videoconferencing in early 2010. And they aren’t worried about the iPhone.

The mystery exec said, ““video conferencing is something that could completely change the mobile landscape and it is something we have been thinking about and working on for quite some time. You will start seeing something early next year”. It makes perfect sense, so we have no reason to doubt it. Are you looking forward to some videoconferencing?

Kodak unveils EasyShare Z950 camera

kodakz950Kodak has been in the camera and film business for more years than most of us have been alive. The company makes a full line of digital cameras, film, and other electronic products like camcorders and digital frames today.

The company has announced a new digital camera that will ship in August for $279.99 called the EasyShare Z950. The camera uses a 10x zoom lens with optical image stabilization. The camera also uses Kodak’s Smart Capture feature.

lumixfz35One of the things that always appealed to many users of point-and-shoot cameras is that you could get them with giant zoom ranges and the ability to record video as well. Some DSLRs will record video now as well, but a point-and-shoot is cheaper and easier to use for most users.

Panasonic has announced its latest super zoom camera called the FZ35 boasting an 18x zoom lens and the ability to record HD video. The camera has a dedicated record button and the zoom lens is fully functional while recording.

Some other features include: Panoramic Shooting Mode, 3x optical zoom, 2.7″ LCD screen, Face Detection technology with Auto red-eye removal, Picture Stabilisation mode, Maximum ISO sensitivity to 3200 (at 3MP), Movie Mode with sound and zoom function.

You’ll also get Scene Recognition AUTO, Portrait, Backlit Portrait, Night Portrait, Landscape, Night and Macro, Lithium-ion rechargeable battery and a charger. The FinePix J30 will be available next month for an unknown price.

iPod Touch with Camera and Microphone coming?According to a source at Wired, Apple’s Chinese contractors are already hard at work cranking out iPod touch units with cameras and microphones. If true, it would turn the smart media player almost into an iPhone.

According to their source, these new iPods will go on sale in “two to three months.” Could Apple eventually gain carrier independence with a 100% VoIP solution? Things could get very interesting starting in “two to three months.”

Cameras ordered for iPod Touch?TechCrunch claims that they have heard evidence that the next generation iPod Touch will have a built in video camera. One of their sources in Asia says that Apple has placed an order for a massive number of camera modules of the type that they include in the iPhone.

The source says that due to the size of the order, they can only be used for one thing – the iPods. Since May it has been rumored that the iPod Touch would get a camera. When Apple does update the new iPod Touch, it seems likely that they will also upgrade the device to the more powerful processor and graphics chips that were introduced in the iPhone 3GS.

Samsung SCH-W760 releasedWe first told you about this one back in May. Samsung has finally rolled out the odd SCH-W760 cellphone in South Korea. It’s the first handset in the world to come with an infrared camera. Very handy if you want to do video calls in low-light situations like a strip-club, or while hunting for Bigfoot in the wild.

It also has a 3-megapixel camera and 2.8″ AMOLED display with 240 x 400 resolution. Some other features of the SCH-W760 include 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, S-DMB TV support and high speed 3G connectivity.

It’s also waterproof up to 16 feet underwater and it will survive drops from 3.3 feet and works in 14 degree weather. So if you are an adventurer looking for a rugged point and shoot, this one sounds like a good bet.

It’s arriving next month for $300. The available colors are Cardinal Red, Azure Blue and Gunmetal Gray. Pentax is also offering a custom designed clear protective skin for $16.95 along with a comfortable floating wrist strap for $19.95.

Olympus E-P1 camera unveiled

olympuse-p1-sbDigital cameras are available to meet just about any need a user can have. There are small cameras that are easy to carry and there are larger DSLR cameras that take higher quality images. The problem with many DSLR cameras is that they are large and bulky devices.

Olympus has announced a new camera built on the micro four thirds lens system that has the smaller dimension of a point-and-shoot camera but promises to deliver the image quality and features of a DSLR. The camera is called the Olympus E-P1 and has a 12.3-megapixel resolution.

Voltron transforms into a working cameraThis transforming Voltron is awesome. A) It’s Voltron. B)It transforms into a working camera. and C) See A and B. This transforming Voltron action figure actually shoots 110 film. Apparently it was sold in the 1980s by Impulse Ltd.

Not that that helps us get one in the here and now. Few things in life are this awesome. Now, we are on a mission to find one. This is way cooler then that time my Qosmio notebook turned into a Transformer.
