Zoom Q3 mini camcorder with pro micPeople love small camcorders like the flip because they are convenient and compact. The problem is that you sacrifice audio quality for that small size. The audio just plain stinks. I don’t have to tell you. However, there may just be a way to have that small size and decent audio together in one package.

The Zoom Q3 wants to be that solution. The Q3 is comparably small and features USB connectivity, along with stereo microphones that should outdo the flip. This camera records in Mpeg4 and with a 32GB memory card you can record up to 16 hours of video.

geniushd520-sbWhen I was a kid making home movies required a massive camcorder and a giant VCR that you wore like a purse. It was a lot of work for dad to record the flag football game. Today camcorders are tiny things that you can carry without even noticing they are there and many of them even capture HD resolution video.

Genius has announced its first camcorder called the G-Shot HD520. As the camera name implies it records HD video in 720p resolution in MPEG-4/H.264 format. The little camera weighs less than six ounces and can capture 11-megapixels still shots along with video.

It doesn’t look like it right now. Either way, this is a step in the right direction for Panasonic. Everybody else is doing the 3D thing after all.

sonyhdrtg5v-sbCamcorders are one of the many electronics devices that tend to travel with people when they go on vacation. The problem is that travelling can be very hard on items like camcorders that have sensitive components. Camcorders ideal for travelling also tend to have small dimensions that are easy to store in a suitcase.

Sony has announced a new camcorder called the HDR-TG5V that is small and has a rugged frame made from titanium. The camera is a dead ringer for the Sony TG7VE we reported earlier this week. A quick look at the specs shows that the two machines are indeed similar under the skin as well.

sanyowpcamcorder-sbSpring is here and before you know it the hot days of summer will be in full force and staying cool in the pool or at the lake and beach will be top priorities. Sanyo has announced a new camcorder that records in 720p HD resolution, and can record at depths of up to 10 feet of water for one hour. The video is recorded at 30 fps and the camcorder has a 30x optical zoom. Still shots can be taken with the 2-megapixel still shot feature and sequential shooting at 13 fps is featured.
