C-3PO Bespin backpack now available for Pre-Order

Remember in Empire Strikes Back when Chewie had to carry a dismembered C-3PO around on his back? Well, now you can too. Sort of. As a backpack. And it’s available for pre-order from ThinkGeek. Made from golden leatherette, Threepio comes with a mesh pouch with backpack straps for holding all of his appendages, and the torso features a zippered pocket for storing stuff inside him.

It would be awesome to carry your iPad in this. Well, if your idea of awesome is to see a lot of people pointing and laughing at an adult nerd. The eyes even light up and flicker, and he can be fully assembled into a 3+ foot tall protocol droid.

10 Awesome Robot Halloween Pumpkins

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on October 12th, 2009

Halloween PumpkinsHalloween is almost here and while we all have a healthy fear of witches, ghosts, monsters and zombies, it’s robots that we should really be afraid of. Robots are capable of killing every creature on that list and then turning on us.

That’s why I’m proposing that we phase out all of the old monster decorations and Jack-o-lantern faces and replace them with robots. If you don’t fear them now, you will wish you had feared them sooner one cool October night when a red-eyed robot TPs a house with your intestines.

Life-size R2-D2 & C-3PO replicas
Join the dork side with these life-size R2-D2 & C-3PO replicas from Sideshow collectibles. I get it. It can be lonely being a Star Wars fan. I mean, you’ve got all your merchandise around you. Posters, movies, all those action figures still in the bubble. But life sized friends in your life? Sideshow Collectibles can help. Both of these droids are available for pre-order and they’ll ship sometime in the third quarter of this year.

Spending $5,950 for a life-size C-3PO, and $5,450 for R2-D2 will make you feel like you are actually part of the saga. Both figures are made from fiberglass and have lights and sounds powered by a set of AA batteries. Plus, they each come with their own display base and magnetically attached restraining bolt to make sure they stay your droid slaves. If you want to pre-order either one you’ll need a $950, non-refundable deposit. That’s probably peanuts compared to the money you’ve spent so far on your collection.
