I hear ya. The Wii and DS already have Wi-Fi. True, but this device is a Wi-Fi router/bridge for those who don’t have wireless networks. Even when you do have a wireless network, it can be a pain to get your Wii set up depending on your provider. The device will be available in Japan on September 18th for $53.

Obviously it resembles one of those Wii knockoff jobs from China, but it’s the real deal. The adapter has a switch for three modes on back: “Router”, “Bridge” and “Auto”. “Router” is self-explanatory, while “Bridge” connects to another router and then communicates with the Nintendo DS and Wii. “Auto” will switch the household’s network over automatically.

Now, I can understand wanting a Star Trek Enterprise cake or even building one of our favorite Star Trek items, the Final Frontier bike. But what kind of mind creates Star Trek replicas from Rice Krispies boxes?

Bob Prior, that’s who. He’s built sets and even characters from the show out of packages of Rice Krispies. Most Trekkies are just devoted to Trek, but Bob is also devoted to cereal. I think something inside of him went snap, crackle and pop and he’s never been the same since. The man just loves working with cardboard. Some other creations include a 15ft Titanic and 10ft Apollo 11 craft.

This is a great design for a bridge. It retracts into itself like one of those rolly-polly bugs. It’s creator is Thomas heatherwick and it’s an award-winner as well as a fantastic addition to the grand union canal system in london. There are other movable canal bridges, but the rolling bridge curls up on itself to form an octagon by using hydraulics. Check out the video below to see it in action. It’s always nice to see a fresh take on an old theme. Turns out London bridges aren’t falling down, they’re just moving.

We’ve seen Sci-Fi and gadget inspired cakes before. But a star Trek cake? That’s a new one to us. Check out this awesome cake replica of the original enterprise bridge, complete with crew. The creator runs a bakery in Baltimore and of course, is a Star Trek fan. He’s obviously good since the Food Network airs a reality show called “The Ace of Cakes” that focused on his bakery.

The show sometimes shows off specialty cakes and this one will be featured in an upcoming episode. It’s got Spock, Uhura, Chekov,Kirk and a thin looking Scotty not at his post. That is some amazing detail. It would be a pleasure to eat. As far as nerd cake goes, this is pretty awesome.
