Boeing Announces Boeing Black Secure Smartphone

Boeing Black SmartphoneBoeing Co, best know for creating jets and fighter planes, has announced on Wednesday that it will be releasing its own secure smartphone targeting the US defense and security communities. Boeing stated that they had identified a need for agencies to have secure data communications that current devices on the market have not met.

The Boeing Black Smartphone will run on Google’s Android operating system and contain multiple features to maintain secure data storage and communications with the most significant of those being a self-destruct feature. Any attempt to break into the device case, according to Bruce Olcott of Boeing’s council, will trigger functions that will delete all data and software on the device leaving in inoperable.

Private ‘SUGV Early’ Reporting As Ordered, Sir!

iRobot and Boeing to make SUGV Early RobotIf you didn’t already know, the military has been using iRobot’s services for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, sending versions called PackBots specially made to sniff out IEDs and do scouting in dangerous places so that real humans aren’t in danger.

With over 900 PackBots sold and in use so far the iRobot Corporation and Boeing are teaming up to create a new next gen robotic scout that will serve in the military as well as private sectors. Dubbed the Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUGV) Early, this little droid will weigh less than 30 pounds, allowing troops to pack it into remote regions and then scout out areas for any enemy combatants or to map the terrain before moving troops ahead.
