Plextor PL-LB950UE Blu-ray burner |
The Plextor PL-LB950UE Blu-ray burner has been available to Europeans for a few months, but now it’s coming to the US for $239.99. It comes in your choice of either USB 3.0 or eSATA connectivity, has a 12x write speed, which is twice as quick as the previous version and the ability to burn up to 50GB of data on a dual-layer disc.
The drive also handles 3D playback and has a low vibration system to make sure that it runs quieter and it is LightScribe enabled.

I-O Data has unveiled their latest external Blu-ray burner, the BRP-US6. The BRP-US6 connects to your notebook via the USB 2.0 port and keeps things slim. Some specifics include 6x burning for BD-R SL, 2x for BD-R DL/BD-RE and 6x reading with BD-ROM discs.
Today Sony announced the BWU-200S, upgraded internal Blu-ray burner for PC’s with the ability to write a full Blu-ray disc in just 45 minutes. As with most media, I’m sure in the near future we’ll look back and scoff at having waited 45 minutes to burn a single disc, but for now this really isn’t too bad. We’re talking 50GB of data or 4 hours of high-def video in well under an hour, which is half the time it took Sony’s previous Blu-ray burner.
